Architect with Construction Design Experience

TITLE: DESIGN, ARCHITECT - Construction Design/Build POSITION SUMMMARY: We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Architect with a robust background in construction design to join our dynamic team at our Ashburn, Virginia location. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of architectural principles, construction processes, and have proficiency in utilizing industry-standard software such as SketchUp, Revit and AutoCAD. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in designing industrial facilities, commercial buildings, data centers, or mission critical facilities. The Architect will play a key role in leading and contributing to the design and development of construction projects, ensuring adherence to specifications, regulations, and client requirements.

Architect, Construction Design

  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Lead the architectural design process, from conceptualization to completion, ensuring the integration of construction principles and design aesthetics.
  • Develop detailed architectural drawings, plans, and specifications using SketchUp, Revit and AutoCAD software.
  • Conduct project site visits to assess project feasibility, gather information, and ensure design compatibility with existing structures and surroundings.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to coordinate the design and construction process.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on construction materials, methods, and building codes.
  • Review and approve contractor submittals and ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve project goals and maintain effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in architectural design and construction.

Education/Experience (Desired):

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited institution.
  • 5 years proven experience as an Architect with a focus on construction design.
  • In-depth knowledge of architectural principles, construction methods, and building codes.
  • Experience in designing commercial buildings, data centers, or mission critical facilities is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices is a plus.

Computer Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in SketchUp, Revit, and AutoCAD
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook)
  • Proficient computer skills

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Professional licensure as an Architect is preferred.

  • Occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds and bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequent use of hands to fingers, and ability to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate written or online documentation. Involves frequent contact with staff. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
