Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer (QE) is responsible for supporting sites in all aspects of Quality Control, Assurance, and Food Safety adherence. Quality Engineer should be an expert in flexographic processes and ensure equipment and processes follow established quality standards. The Quality Engineer will facilitate and lead root cause investigations with data and analysis from initiation to closure while meticulously documenting the problem and working with others to find a solution. Quality Engineer will ensure test methods are current and train employees on proper testing procedures and root cause investigation tools and processes. QE will promote the QMS and offer recommendations and make necessary improvements on procedures and processes via the creation of quality practices and standard operation procedures (SOPs).  QE will support sites when working with suppliers for raw material compliance and certification compliance and analyze issues reported via customer feedback to ensure products meet customer expectations.  

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assess production process issues and recommend improvements.
  • Partners with production and all departments to ensure a customer-centric & food safety culture and sustain best practices.
  • Supervises product testing to ensure procedure accuracy.
  • Assists in developing and implementing Quality assurance programs to meet production standards and customer requirements.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers and peers.
  • Complies with all general Company-wide standard operating procedures (SOPs) and any job or department specific SOPs.
  • Works with the team on root cause investigations for internal and external opportunities.
  • Ensures complete execution of the QMS and Food Safety Systems.
  • Works with teams to develop and implement best practice standardization.
  • Recommends manufacturing or technology aids to increase speed and efficiency of Quality products.
  • Special Projects & other duties as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Successful candidate must have strong attention to detail, excellent time management skills, and be familiar with inspection techniques and Quality standards.
  • Flexographic experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in flexographic packaging
  • BS degree or equivalent industry experience
  • Six sigma experience required (green or black belt certificate) w/ SPC analysis capabilities.
  • GFSI/HACCP experience a plus,
  • Must have leadership skills and be able to lead a team and interact with individuals at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to read, write and speak for company communications and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experience/proficiency with PC, mouse, keyboard, and Microsoft Office software.
  • Travel required 30%-40%
  • York PA-based (onsite position) with approximately 30% travel in US/Canada locations.

  • Experience dealing with customers and suppliers.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. (consistently)
  • Must be able to move and lift up to 40 lbs. (intermittently)
