CP Flexible Packaging is Hiring an Industrial Maintenance Technician Near Norcross, GA

Job Summary:

The primary job responsibilities of the position is to maintain and repair facilities and equipment within the company on designated shift.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: (includes but is not limited to)

  • Machine repair and preventative maintenance; must be able to perform this independently in many cases.
  • Emergency repairs, must be able to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment problems
  • Installation assistance on capital projects
  • Assist with modification, installation of equipment or process improvements
  • Assist with installation and startup of minor equipment purchases
  • Facilities maintenance, e.g., painting, building modifications, grounds maintenance
  • Ability to trouble shoot and repair mechanical and electrical/electronic issues.
  • Must be able to work independently and adhere to established safety standards.
  • Complete work order entry and close-out in the Maintenance work order system.
  • Organizational skills
  • Safety awareness
  • Complies with all general Company-wide standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and any job or department specific SOP’s.
    • SOP’s may cover the areas of (but are not limited to)
      • Employee Health and Safety
      • SQF (Safe Quality Food packager) and GMP (good manufacturing procedures) focused on eliminating contaminates in all packaging manufactured.
      • SGP (Sustainable Green Printer) environmental regulatory procedures and SOP’s
  • Must work within productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner.
  • Special Projects & other duties as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED or higher required.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting required.
    • Knowledge of web handling processes desired
    • Knowledge of flexographic printing, and lamination and slitting processes desired
    • Hands on experience working with, and knowledge of electrical 3-phase wiring, installation, and repair of machinery up to at least 480 volts and electronic repair highly preferred.
    • Experience in electronic troubleshooting and repair of industrial and or manufacturing machinery
    • Knowledge and experience troubleshooting and evaluating PLC’s and drives is highly desirable
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to define and solve problems without assistance, dealing with many variables and limited information
  • Certification/license as requested
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office package software is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential.

Other knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Able to earn and maintain forklift operation certification
  • Able to obtain high lift certification and safely operate high-reach lift
  • Able to safely operate various tow motors (sit down, high-reach, etc.)
  • Basic computer knowledge and data entry
  • Basic reading & math skills and ability to read ruler, tape measure
  • Usage of common tools (hammer, screwdriver, etc.)
  • Communicate well with other employees
  • Use of sharp tools (razor safety knife)
  • Use of hoists
  • Interpret and understand written information (schedules)
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to maintain confidentiality of information to Company and Federal standards.
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and be able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Must be dependable and work within Company conduct standards; consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.

Physical Demands:

The following are required to perform the duties of this position:

    • Lifting of 60 lbs. or less (frequent), lifting up to 80 lbs (occasional), standing and sitting (frequent), crawling, stooping, and kneeling (occasional), reaching with arms & crouching (occasional), working and reaching overhead (occasional, could be for extended periods), movement of head and neck in sometimes odd positions depending on area of machine or activity being worked on (frequent)
    • Required to work at heights using ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces for short periods of time during equipment inspections and modifications.
    • Required to use hand tools and repair machinery, grasping, fine manipulation (frequent)
    • Ability see and read effectively to interpret work instructions, work orders, read tape measure (standard and metric) and read other operational materials. (frequent)

Working Conditions: (travel, working hours, any unusual environmental conditions, protective wear required, etc.)

  • Infrequent travel may be required for maintaining certifications, seminars, and training sessions
  • Exposure to chemicals (inks, solvents), moving mechanical parts, extended noise, etc. may require the use of personal protective equipment; earplugs, safety glasses, gloves, etc.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment around machinery (concrete flooring).
  • Pedestrian awareness while on tow motor
  • Overtime as required
  • Follow all safety regulations and rules at all times, including wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE):
    • Eye Protection/ Safety glasses
    • Back belt/ Harness as applicable
    • Steel toe shoes
    • Hearing protection
    • Hairnets and beard nets
    • Hard hat if applicable
  • Ability to work in a non-air conditioned environment: hot conditions during summer months and cool conditions during winter months. (consistently)
  • Must be able to priortize/multi-task, be a team player and able to adapt to change
  • This position is a “safety sensitive” position. Individuals in this position are required to submit to post-incident drug and alcohol testing. (Buffalo, York, Bristol, Lakeville only, not applicable in Aurora)
