Cozy Harbor Seafood, a leader in the seafood processing industry, is currently seeking a highly motivated team player, to be a Production Supervisor for its locally based high-end food manufacturing company in the Portland Maine. The Production Supervisor will lead a team of skilled line workers to meet the demand of ready eat lobster meat products for commercial and retail sales.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

•TRAINS, EVALUATES, DEVELOPS AND GUIDES WORKERS IN PERFORMANCE OF THEIR JOB

•MOTIVATES STAFF IN JOB PERFORMANCE AND CREATES A TEAM SPIRIT IN DEPARTMENT

•SCHEDULES ACTIVITIES OF THE HR SHELLFISH DEPARTMENT

•CONTROLS THE WORKFLOW, YIELDS, PRODUCT QUALITY AND GMP’S OF DEPARTMENT

•ACTS AS TWO-WAY COMMUNICATOR BETWEEN MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIVES

•REPORTS TO MANAGEMENT ON PERFORMANCE OF TEAM AND OPERATIVES

•MAKES RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CONTINUAL IMPROVEMENT OF DEPARTMENT

•FINISHED GOODS PRODUCTION QUALITY LIMITS

•HR LOBSTER DEPARTMENT PRODUCTION PLAN & POSITION OBJECTIVES

•PLAN, SCHEDULE AND DIRECT STAFF AND EQUIPMENT TO ACHIEVE:

•PRODUCT QUALITY LIMITS

•HR PRODUCTION PLAN GOALS

•MONITOR AND CONTROL ESSENTIAL DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES:

•DEPARTMENT HACCP PLAN CRITICAL CONTROL POINTS

•STAFF GMP PRACTICES

•PROCESS LINE PRODUCTIVITY & YIELDS

•FINISHED PRODUCT CONFORMANCE TO PRODUCTION QUALITY LIMITS

•EQUIPMENT READINESS AND CONFORMITY

•PACKAGING, PPE & INGREDIENTS DE-CONTAMINATION

•NON-CONFORMING PRODUCT CONTROL PROCEDURES

•IDENTIFY DEVELOPMENT AND ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR WORKERS

•COMMUNICATE MANAGEMENT REQUIREMENTS TO STAFF AND STAFF FEEDBACK TO MANAGEMENT

•ENFORCE POLICIES, PROCEDURES AND INSTRUCTIONS

•CHILLING & FREEZING PROCESSING PROCEDURE & LOG

• PROCESS & PRODUCT PACKAGING CODE

• PRODUCTION AREA SET-UP AND SHUT-DOWN

SCOPE OF SUPERVISION:

• COOKER OPERATOR

• MINCE & LEG LEAD

• CK PICKING LEAD

• CK PACKING LEAD

• ALL HR PRODUCTION OPERATORS

SCOPE OF AUTHORITY:

• MAY ISSUE VERBAL AND/OR WRITTEN WARNINGS FOR SAFETY RULES INFRACTION, INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR OR POOR JOB PERFORMANCE

• MAY SUSPEND EMPLOYEES FOR PERIOD NOT TO EXCEED BALANCE OF SHIFT PLUS 3 DAYS

• MAY RECOMMEND SUSPENSION OR TERMINATION BY PRODUCTION MANAGER

MEETING REQUIREMENTS:

• DAILY CO-ORDINATION MEETING

• MONTHLY CREW MEETING

• IMPROVEMENT TEAMS AS REQUIRED

REQUIRED SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES AND BEHAVIORS:

• ABLE TO READ AND INTERPRET DOCUMENTS SUCH AS SAFETY RULES, OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS, AND PRODUCTION PROCEDURES

ABLE TO PERFORM BASIC MATH INCLUDING FRACTIONS, DECIMALS, RATIOS, PERCENTAGES, AND TEMPERATURE CONVERSIONS.

• ASSOCIATES DEGREE FROM ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

• PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
