Do you want to join one of the leading engineering consulting companies, creating value for customers, people, and societies worldwide? Can you build and maintain positive relationships with clients and partners? And are you a collaborative and inspirational leader with experience in developing and leading highly skilled people? Then, join us and we can be great together.

Empower a team of expert leaders
As Vice President of Operations, of our West Region in the US, you will be part of a collaborative leadership team that covers operations across North America, having offices in many of the larger states and provinces (organized into four regions). North America is an important part of COWI Group's growth strategy, called "Future Now", and you will interact with and have access to expertise and resources in Europe, India, and beyond.

Your key activities will be:

  • Implement a North American action plan in the assigned area, supplemented with region-specific actions as needed.
  • In collaboration with HR, develop action plans and ensure accountability for leadership of talent in the assigned region including succession management, recruitment and retention, leadership development, and annual employee processes.
  • Achieve profitability targets through production processes, resource management, quality assurance/control, and distributed work.
  • Collaborate with the business development team including the Senior Market Director to align on client selection, go/no-go, bid submittals, and pursuit capture processes.
  • Provide commercial oversight to projects and pursuits including negotiating contractual terms, resolving disputes, and managing risk.
  • Provide oversight of facilities in the region including offices in Oakland CA, Portland OR, Seattle WA, and Houston TX.
  • Contribute to project oversight steering committees for major projects anchored in the region.
  • Communicate COWI Corporate and North American strategies, actions, and news at the regional level in line with President's communication.
  • Drive change management of practices, policies, and ways of engaging to promote "one COWI" feel and new ways of working.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
Like us, you believe that leadership success comes from building purpose and inspiring the leaders you represent. Developing your people, encouraging them to apply their knowledge in their work, and moving their performance forward through dialogue is at the center of what you do. So are attracting a diverse group of leaders and promoting an open, caring, and trusting culture. And breaking down silos and collaborating across the organisation are inherent to the direction you set for your leadership team.

On top of that, you will:

  • Hold a relevant Engineering Degree in a related field combined with a minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience in at least one of the following areas: Large Infrastructure (including bridges, mass transit, marine and underground structures), Climate Adaptation & Water (including water/wastewater conveyance, coastal resiliency, and storm solutions), Sustainable Energy (including offshore renewables, green fuels, and carbon capture).
  • Possess demonstrated experience setting, monitoring and meeting metrics, targets and annual goals including increasing associated accountability through direct reports.
  • Have demonstrated success in cultivating high-performance teams including development of first-level managers, an inclusive and collaborative leadership style, respectful and effective communication skills.
  • Comprehensive business insight and change management skills.
  • Key operational experience with an entrepreneurial mindset to generate new approaches, identify improvements and initiate action.
  • Have experience in contributing to strategy and translating it into goals and operational plans.
