We are seeking a dependable Medical Laboratory Assistant for our ER & Hospital.

Scope of Practice:

• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Specimen collector, including patient preparation, if applicable, labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, transportation, and storage of specimens.
• Implementation of standard laboratory procedures.
• Preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration procedures related to each test.
• Reagent stability and storage knowledge.
• Assess and verify the validity of patients' test results.
• Assess and verify the validity of patient test results by evaluating quality control sample values before reporting patient test results.
• Implement quality control policies and procedures in the laboratory.
• Be aware of the factors that influence test results.
• Before performing a moderate-complexity test, they shall document evidence of competency and training appropriate for the specific testing and submit it to their employer or laboratory director.

Qualifications required:

Education/Experience:

• Associate degree in a related science field (preferred)
• 1 years of Medical Laboratory Assistant experience (preferred)
• 1 years of Medical Experience required.

Licensure/Certification:

• LMBE Laboratory Assistant Certification, or eligible (preferred)
• BLS Certification required.

• Is aware of laboratory standards and performs per them.
• Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement.
• Ability to research, compile, analyze, and interpret data.
• Must possess communication skills suited to a wide variety of audiences in both written and verbal capacities.
• Ability to recognize and process confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Must possess strong organizational skills.
• Should be familiar with general office equipment such as fax, copier, scanner, Microsoft Office and EMR.

Nonessential Job Functions:

• Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor/department director.
