The City of Beverly:

A suburban community of 42,000 residents located 18 miles north of Boston. Beverly is fifteen square miles of natural beauty, resources, parks, woodlands, beaches, stately homes, and a lively harbor along nine miles of Atlantic coastline. Founded in 1626, the City of Beverly is one of the oldest communities in the state. Residents describe their city as the birthplace of the United States Navy, noting that the first ship commissioned by the Navy first sailed from Beverly Harbor.

Cove Elementary School:

Cove School has a student population of 440 and a staff of over 60, with a strong and supportive community and parent base. The school offers a positive, nurturing environment with a dedicated and professional staff. Teachers challenge and motivate our students to do their personal best and encourage social growth and responsibility. Additionally, the Cove School Council, composed of staff and parents elected by their peers, assists in writing a school improvement plan which focuses on improving student achievement.

Responsibilities:

  • Sustain a positive, safe, and supportive culture for students and staff.
  • Serves as the Chief Educational Leader to enhance the educational development of each child.
  • Serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the school in the day-to-day operationof the building.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, evaluate, develop, retain, and, when necessary, dismiss staff.
  • Administers the school's budget.
  • Cultivate a shared vision that makes powerful teaching and learning the central focus of schooling.
  • Ensure a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment, using resources to implement appropriate curriculum, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Effectively partner with families, community organizations, and other stakeholders that support the mission of the school and district.
  • Nurture and sustain a school culture of reflective practice, high expectations, and continuous learning for staff.
  • Manage faculty and staff effectively; holding staff accountable for meeting high standards for student academic and behavioral performance.
  • Consults with all relevant program managers, including the Director of Special Education, to plan, implement, and appropriately supervise programs within the building to enhance individual student education and development.
  • Oversee students’ academic and behavioral programs, including disciplinary decisions, scheduling and class decisions, educational programs, and assessment and accountability.
  • Build an effective, efficient, action-oriented, and highly accountable data analysis and action planning process that ensures individual student success.
  • Performs such other related tasks and assumes such other related responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by immediate supervisors.
