COVE Behavioral Health is Hiring a Behavioral Health Director of Nursing Near Tampa, FL

Primary Function:

  • Coordinate and oversee the nursing operations of the comprehensive agency system.

Compensation: $100,000 / yr

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree (required).
  • RN (required).
  • Two to four years of related experience (required).
  • Must be able to pass background and drug screen prior to start date.

Scope of Work:

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position.

  • Direct daily nursing and nursing assistant operations for the admissions and treatment process, to include oversight of nursing duties in residential and outpatient programs.
  • Oversee and ensure nursing and nursing assistant staff work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to produce efficient and quality patient care.
  • Conduct weekly supervision meetings with Nursing Supervisor and team supervisions with nursing and nursing assistant staff as needed to address and review any nursing staff suggestions, concerns, and/or issues related to patient care and/or employment matters.
  • Assist Medical Director with overall operations of medical services and treatment programs.
  • Observe patient physical and mental health statuses to make appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Provide health education to patients and train and enable nursing staff to do the same.
  • Ensure patients receive necessary medical exams and evaluations during the admissions process and throughout treatment as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all Physician's orders, ensuring documentation in patient records as required.
  • Communicate with internal personnel to include, but not be limited to: medical, clinical, administrative, and maintenance staff in the event of emergencies.
  • Secure, maintain, and order nursing and medical supplies as necessary, tracking inventory as supplies are dispersed.
  • Coordinate patient chart reviews to include, but not be limited to: Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial Insurance and private funders.
  • Create and submit reports to internal and external parties as required.
  • Participate in clinical consultations and team meetings.
  • Act as a representative of the organization at external meetings as necessary.
  • Maintain and update appropriate policies and procedures related to nursing practices and provide input on Clinical and Medical policies and procedures as they relate to nursing.
  • Develop and enact goals and key performance indicators for nursing and nursing assistant staff.
  • Operate as the organization's Infection Control Officer, managing internal and external communications related to any ongoing and/or emerging infection control treatment.
  • Develop and manage budget for nursing/medical services in order to meet organization's financial goals.
  • Act as mentor to nursing and nursing assistant staff to advance professional growth.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • 11-15 employees.
  • Primary consultant for all agency nursing staff, to include nursing assistants. Supervises all nursing staff, including nursing assistants, either directly or through subordinate supervisors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and any applicable laws. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interviewing and training new employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving any issues regarding nursing and/or within nursing team.
