This position guides, checks, corrects, and reports on the work of a team of custodial personnel who perform janitorial services and floor maintenance of indoor and outdoor facilities. Custodial Services are critical for the maintenance, health, and safety of County facilities. Special Note: This position will be assigned to work Monday through Friday, 5:00 pm to 1:30 am.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIESIn addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess three (3) years of direct experience in the following desirable qualifications and core competencies: Three (3) years of full-time paid custodial experience or hotel housekeeping experienceIn depth knowledge of all custodial related duties including, but not limited to; waxing, sealing and overall maintenance of all types of floors, bonnet buffing and extracting stains/dirt from all types of carpetsAbility to guide, check, correct, and report on the work of a group of Custodians while working alongside themEnsures that the dusting, scrubbing, waxing, and other assignments are accomplished through efficient use of personnelMonitors work in progress and upon completion, refers problems to supervisorAssists in training and working with employees and evaluating their performanceAbility to prepare simple recordsAssists in testing and evaluating new custodial products and materialsAbility to perform minor repair work on facilities or equipment, as neededDemonstrates the initiative to fill in and perform basic custodial work as necessaryLeadership Skills Knowledge of the elements of supervision such as leading and working with employees in all phases of their custodial dutiesKnowledge of conflict resolution techniques to resolve any disagreements that may ariseCommunication Skills Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with personnel at all levels.Ability to read and write simple messages in EnglishAbility to read signs, labels, work schedules and simple instructions in English and enter simple information on time cards, check off sheets and other recordsAbility to accurately document incidents and receive documentation from other staff Technical KnowledgeKnowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in cleaning and caring for floors, walls, fixtures and furnitureAbility to count, add and subtract small numbers for recording information on time cardsAbility to ensure that daily tasks and assignments are accomplished efficientlyAbility to problem solve issues and implement solutions to resolve unexpected situationsBasic knowledge of MS Outlook and ExcelMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSPlease click here to view the minimum qualifications for Custodian Leadworker.
