POSITION SUMMARY
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is looking for an innovative and dynamic Recreation Facility Manager to join our team! This position will assist in the management and operation of the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex. In addition to planning, organizing, and directing athletic reservations, tournaments and stadium events, this position will also lead staff trainings and have an integral role in continued professional development amongst our team. The incumbent will have an important role with reviewing and completing reservation requests, planning for large events, managing vendors and contracts, and working with the maintenance team to ensure the facility is ready each and every day. Additionally, the Facility Manager will have opportunities to explore new marketing strategies, facility management solutions, and other areas of innovation to ensure the facility is continuing to be on the forefront of premier athletic facilities. This full-time position will require some evenings, weekends and holidays based on event schedules.

Facility Information: Mecklenburg County Sportsplex was named Professional Soccer Field of the Year by SFMA in 2023, and is located on 175 acres on the south side of beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina. The Sportsplex is home to 9 synthetic turf multi-purpose fields, 2 high-quality natural grass multi-purpose fields, and a 5,000-seat natural grass multi-purpose Stadium. The facility hosts a variety of local, regional, and national events ranging from youth and high school to college and professional sports year-round and is equipped to host soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, rugby, football, and more. Some highlighted events over the last year are the NCAA Division II Soccer Championships, MLS Next Pro Matches, US Soccer Open Cup, Big South and SAC Soccer Conference Championships, SAC Lacrosse Conference Championships, professional and international team training, national and regional tournaments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Athletic facility management experience highly preferred
•Experience facilitating staff training

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Manage fiscal management, budget planning, implementation, execution and monitoring achievement of defined facility revenue and expense goals
•Monitor facility revenue through daily admissions, facility passes, fitness, wellness, and recreation programs, and facility rentals
•Manage staff including maintenance, program staff and customer service staff
•Manage and monitors vendor, agency and individual contracts
•Participate in staff conferences in planning comprehensive recreation programs
•Investigate and take action on requests, suggestions or complaints concerning recreation services
•Provide leadership by introducing new programs, equipment and facilities to staff members and the community
•Order equipment and supplies as needed
•Responsible for inventory control of equipment and materials allocated to programs
•Establish and maintain partnerships with agencies, neighborhood groups and user groups for developing an effective recreation plan for the community
•Respond to emergency situations
•Complete and maintain statistical reports on programming, attendance, facility usage and other necessary topics.
•Promote the use of a facility for recreational use and rental opportunities.
•Supervise full time, part time and temporary employees.
•Create and manage staff schedules, coaching employees, and annual reviews.
•Complete monthly safety checklists and site inspections

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in recreation programming; One (1) year of supervisory experience or completion of an approved supervisory training program

Education: Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration, Park and Recreation or a related field

Licenses/Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges
