Position Announcement

Job Title: Mobile Medical Unit Driver (Automobile Servicer)

Salary: $15.00/hour

Position Status: Part-time (as needed)

Position Schedule: Primarily weekdays, some evening and weekends may be required

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the position is responsible for driving and maintaining the McLean County Health Department’s mobile medical unit, which includes travel to multiple facilities or work sites as necessary to perform important parts of this job. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare, load, and unload vehicle before and after assigned health clinics

Transport mobile bus to and from various mobile health clinic sites and storage location

Work with Outreach Project Manager to confirm schedule for mobile health clinic sites

Operate mobile medical unit safely by adhering to all state, Federal, local regulations and safety requirements

Inspect mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment of mobile unit before, during and after trips and identify potential hazards or recognize safety alarms

Upon arrival at destination, performs all necessary setup duties to ensure van is patient accessible for services provided

Maintain adequate fuel levels and inventory of supplies on mobile unit

Assure the vehicle is clean, including emptying waste from holding tank at the end of assigned health clinics

Coordinate regular and ongoing maintenance and/or repairs

Performs related work as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to drive safely, responsibly and be prepared for all road conditions

Ability to read maps, estimate trip times

Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality

Ability to maintain neat, legible, and accurate records and documentation as required.

Ability to communicate in a friendly, pleasant, and courteous manner.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other employees, community partners, and the public.

Required Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent required. Class C commercial driver’s license in the state of Illinois. Experience (2-3 years) driving and maintaining large vehicles, no driving license suspensions no driving convictions related to alcohol or illegal drugs, and a safe driving record.

Physical Attributes/Demands

This position requires activities such as sitting, driving, walking, reaching, standing, bending, stooping, and lifting light to medium objects.

Work Environment

The work is generally performed in an indoor/outdoor setting and involves exposure to normal, everyday risks that require normal safety precautions. This position may operate in clinical and/or field environments where bloodborne pathogen exposure precautions are needed. This position may also operate outside in all-weather light, road, and traffic conditions.
