County of Kent is Hiring a Maintenance Technician Near Grand Rapids, MI

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing skilled work maintaining and repairing operating systems, features, fixtures and furnishings of facilities maintained by the Kent County Facilities Management Team, primarily the Kent County Courthouse.
These facilities utilize modern, technically complex HVAC equipment and systems, security components consisting of cameras, recorders and card access door systems. Other work includes but is not limited to the installation, repair, modification and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems and devices; electronic and electro-magnetic access control devices; and building mechanical systems. This position is a fully functioning skilled trades position, requiring journey level maintenance skills to install, repair, modify and maintain the operation of sophisticated building security, access control, environmental and other systems in addition to performing preventive maintenance and routine repairs. Work assignments are performed in accordance with established maintenance schedules; federal, state and local rules, regulations and codes; and as needed to maintain operations and security. General supervision is received from employees responsible for overall management.
Note: Employees are required to be available when scheduled to respond to emergencies and/or seasonal weather conditions

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent combined with completion of a recognized technical, certificate or apprenticeship training program and three years experience in maintenance repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working knowledge of building trades, electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles and practices. Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and procedures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, engineering drawings and specifications, building drawings and manufacturer's operating and preventive maintenance manuals. Journey card or certificate in electronics, electrical, plumbing, mechanical or other maintenance trade desired.
