COMMUNITY CENTER RECREATION ASSISTANT – PART-TIME

***NOTE: Greenville County Rec operates several summer camps for children at our Community Centers. Job applicants may be hired to work at one of these locations, however, if you have a summer camp location preference, please indicate this within your application for consideration.

• Seeking dependable, energetic, and responsible individuals to join Greenville County Rec primarily for evening and weekend rentals, programs and events. This position performs a variety of duties assisting in implementing a safe and fun environment at the center, including:
• Assists Center Managers and staff in implementing Center programs, activities and events for youth, adults and senior citizens with varying interests, recreational needs, and abilities, including but not limited to open gym, rentals, special events and other daily programs as needed such as senior programs, afterschool programs, and summer camps.
• Inspects grounds and facilities for security and safety; takes appropriate steps to ensure the safety of all citizens and staff and the protection of Greenville County property including janitorial work, housekeeping and grounds keeping.
• Monitors and provides leadership to groups and individuals participating in recreational activities.
• Assists in supervising the use of the facility by outside agencies, groups or the general public.
• Performs general clerical work such as preparing daily attendance records, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone/taking messages, and other work/reports as required.
• Communicates well with Supervisors, Coworkers, participants, and the general public as appropriate.
• Shares any inquiries, concerns, complaints and requests from the public with Supervisors and gives input on the course of action.
• Attends meetings, workshops, conferences, and trainings, as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
• Assists with other facilities and/or additional Greenville County Rec programs and special events as needed or available.
• Ensures compliance with and enforces all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, Greenville County Rec policies, procedures, and standards of safety.
• Optional: Ability to drive a County vehicle including a minibus to transport participants. Ensures the safety of all riders.
• Completes any additional duties as they apply to operating quality and safe programs within the center.
