Responsible for Supervise the daily workflow activities of the administrative and shelter staff and provide care to the animals at the Culpeper Animal Shelter.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Education and Experience:
Education and experience equivalent to high school diploma supplemented, required, 1 year of animal control training and basic law enforcement, preferred; 4 years of experience working with animals and at least six (6) months of supervisory experience.
Special Qualifications:
Must possess and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license.
Must be able to obtain certification in euthanasia and firearms.
Must be bondable.
Must be capable of qualifying as sworn and appointed Deputy Animal Control Officer.
Must successfully pass a criminal history background check.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as moderately demanding work. Must be able to lift, carry, pull, and pull heavy objects and materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires constant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, swatting, climbing, etc. Requires the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, odors, colors, visual perception, and depths.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Tasks may risk exposure to disease, aggressive animals, and noise extremes, and odors.
