County of Contra Costa is Hiring a Director of Animal Services - Exempt Near Costa, CA
The ideal candidate should be a visionary and community-focused leader with excellent administrative and operational skills. Key attributes include strong communication abilities, empathy, and the skill to address sensitive issues effectively. The candidate must be adept at building positive relationships with officials, staff, and the community, and have a deep commitment to animal welfare. They should be responsive and effective in diverse environments, with a strong emphasis on racial equity, diversity, and inclusion. At least 5 years of progressive experience in a supervisory or administrative role, with significant public interaction and public relations tasks. A minimum of 3 years in a leadership position within a county or city animal control program, or as an Executive Director (or equivalent) of a Humane Society overseeing such a program. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a similar field. Relevant work experience can replace education on a year-for-year basis, up to 4 years.
