POSITION SUMMARY
:

The Enterprise Services Specialist position is responsible for engineering and design functions as well as operational support and repair of the County’s communications network infrastructure. This includes managing multiple projects, planning network technology solutions, and configuring / optimizing services both internally and with partners. The specialists will also engage in a variety of research to ensure service levels for data, voice, & video are reached by the Enterprise Team.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Complete performance and fault management activities to ensure the operational status of the network meets defined SLAs.
  • IP address & subnetting for public & private network implementations and schemas.
  • Identify, diagnose, resolve, and document network problems.
  • Create & maintain comprehensive documentation for the enterprise wide network.
  • Manage and monitor the various partner relationships that assist in providing adjunct network support functions.
  • Research and implement security mitigation measures to ensure a safe and healthy network.
  • Utilize a case management tool for support delivery, change control, and knowledge transfer.
  • Complete extensive analysis and business documentation to justify future system improvements.
  • Provide professional verbal and written reports or recommendations to management and /or customers.
  • Collaborate with partners / vendors on project installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Create, review, and recommend responses to bids and RFPs for various business and technology solutions.
  • Independently prioritize work and triage operational support issues around project related tasks.
  • Proficiency supporting a Cisco centric ecosystem (hardware, software, services, applications, etc.).
  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Nationally Accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology or matriculating towards this degree with > 70 credit hours.
  • Data and/or voice network experience as a technician or engineer.
  • Current Cisco Certifications (i.e., Entry, Associate, Specialist, etc.).
  • Skilled in switching, routing, collaboration, wireless, or security disciplines.
  • Understanding or applied use of Cisco’s Webex, Unified Call Manager Cloud, ISE, Stealthwatch, Umbrella, Meraki, or DNA is sought after.
  • Commit to a 40-hour work week, as assigned, with availability to work off-hours and on-call.
  • Working knowledge and troubleshooting skills related to network nodes or systems in a converged network.
  • Skillful in implementing network communications structured cabling standards and solutions.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting existing and legacy structured communication systems (i.e., electrical, optical, and free space).
  • Ability to manage time and priorities within a high-pressure environment that includes local law enforcement, first responders, 24x7 government entities, and life safety personnel.
  • Proficient with office automation tools preferably Microsoft 365 and the Office suite.
