Position Details

Position Title : Student Services Coordinator

The primary function of the Student Services Coordinator is to create a positive learning environment for all students. Primarily, the SSC will help students resolve personal, social, emotional, and behavioral problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their capacity to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered to them.

Qualifications :

A Bachelors Degree in social work, criminal justice, or related field preferred.

Experience and knowledge with community agencies and resources.

Experience with behaviorally challenged children.

Experience in working with students and parents in the school setting.

Appearance, grooming and personality that establish a positive example for students. Better than average recommendations from supervisor or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic achievement, and work performance of the counselor.

Language Skills : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, social work procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of directors, students, parents, and the general public.

Reasoning Ability : Ability to solve routine problems with minimal supervisory assistance. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, with staff and with the community.

Ability to perform duties with awareness and consistency to the mission and goals established by the Board of Education.

Report to / Evaluated by : The Student Services Coordinator is under the immediate supervision of the site Principal.

Supervisory Responsibility : All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment at all times.

Salary : $36, / year.

Essential Duties

  • Perform casework service with individual students and / or groups to address those personal, social, or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress and implement behavioral interventions as an integral part of helping students become successful;
  • As a part of the child study team and the building behavior team, consult and collaborate with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing for respective roles in the modification of the students behavior;
  • Provide intervention support as needed;

Supervise students in the morning before school begins, at lunch, and after school ends.

  • Coordinate meetings with school personnel when necessary;
  • Participate in referrals to outside agencies as appropriate;
  • Serve as a liaison between home and school when considerable follow up is necessary;
  • Maintain records of cases for use by school staff including identified at-risk students who qualify under section 31a;
  • Monitor student attendance, and work with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow up actions;
  • Participate as a member of the School Crisis Team;
  • Participate in the School Improvement Process;
  • Participate in Threat Assessments;
  • Provide support and act as the building liaison for all students considered homeless;
  • Oversee donations for Project Hope, Just for Kids, Blessing in a Backpack;
  • Serve in a leadership role in school parenting groups, support initiatives to help students become successful;

Maintain communications with administration, faculty, and parents to better meet the needs of each student.

Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal.

Take in-service training as provided.

Must be self-directed and have the ability to follow directives from supervisors.

Must maintain confidentiality at all times.

Regular in-person attendance and punctuality are expectations of this position.
