Countryside YMCA is Hiring an Education Outreach Coordinator Near Lebanon, OH
EDUCATION AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum 21 years of age with a BA in education or a related field. 2 years’ prior experience working with children in a licensed program is preferred. Must hold CPR/First Aid/AED certification at time of hire or ability to be certified within a reasonable amount of time after hire date. Must pass a criminal background check.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Plan and design activities, lessons and field trips
- Develop relationships with children and their families.
- Establish classroom rules, procedures, and classroom schedules.
- Gather appropriate learning materials and supplies for each site.
- Provide effective communication of policies and guidelines to all outreach teachers.
- Attend weekly CDA training.
- Assist student’s parents in locating potential resources all while referring them to local agencies.
- Assist parents in the kindergarten registration process.
- Create and print documents to communicate with parents including calendars, reminders, parent resources and field trip info.
- Ensure snacks are purchased and delivered to each site.
- Research and identify new educational outreach opportunities.
- Actively promote the education outreach program around Warren County.
- Ensure a safe and functional environment in every outreach classroom.
- Must have a positive and professional attitude and willingness to commit to the mission of the YMCA.
- Excellent communication skills with children and families of varying economic backgrounds
- Patience and understanding when working with children and interacting with parents, establishing trust with both parties.
- Oversees all cleaning responsibilities.
- Acts professionally in all situations.
- Completes required training and professional development activities.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Keeps the room orderly by ensuring things are put away.
- Respects toys/equipment and notifies supervisors of damaged or broken items.
- Prolonged periods of standing, stooping and frequent bending.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Will be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses.
