POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Lifeguards are responsible for implementing all water safety policies and procedures, and supervising members and guests in and around the swimming pool.

It is the responsibility of the employee to uphold the core values of CCL. WORK EXPERIENCE:
Previous lifeguard experience preferred.

EDUCATION:
High School Diploma

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE
Lifeguard, CPR and AED Certification

BUDGET CONTROL/RESPONSIBILITY:
None.

SECURITY/CONFIDENTIALITY:
Access to confidential information, which will be kept in the strictest confidence.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Excellent time management with effective communication skills, Member/Guest satisfaction oriented with ability to multi-task in fast paced environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT:
Moderate physical activity. Involves exposure to hazards or physical risks which require basic safety precautions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Vacuum pool bottom; empties automatic skimmer; skims bugs and other debris from surface to prepare pool for daily use.
• Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
• Administers care to swimmers’ minor injuries, such as small cuts and bruises.
• Maintains amenities in and cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms and showers.
• Assist in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members and directed by the swimming Pool Coordinator.
• Enforcing rules of conduct at the pool.
• Checks first aid supplies and reports needed items.
• Places rescue tube and ring buoy on the lifeguard chair in the morning; returns these and all swimming aids and pool toys to the lifeguard locker when the pool closes.
• Straightens the pool areas at the end of the day.
• Maintains all necessary records determined by the swimming pool Coordinator.
• Implements all pool safety equipment.
• Performs required pool pre-opening duties.
• Informs swimming Pool Coordinator about unresolved member or guest disruptions that could cause a safety problem.
• Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the swimming pool manager.
• Teaching swim lessons.

Due to the nature of this position it is impossible to list all things you will be exposed to or ultimately have responsibility for. Because of the fluctuating demands of the club's operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed. Our goal will always be to do what is right to assist Members, guests and other employees to maximize the success and enjoyment of the Club.

Must have Lifeguard and CPR certification.
