Council on Substance Abuse-NCADD is Hiring a Case Manager / Veteran Suicide Prevention Services Near Montgomery, AL

The mission of the Council on Substance Abuse (COSA) is to reduce the incidence and prevalence of the disease of alcoholism, other drug addiction diseases, and related problem. The Case Manager works with key staff and is responsible for the implementation of grant activities on a veterans suicide prevention project, primarily conducting various screenings and serving as a essential liasion between program participants and medical and social services providers. The Case Manager reports to the Program Manager.

CORE JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Provide case management services to veterans, military members, and military family members for the purpose of preventing suicide ideation and/or attempts.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with other agencies/organizations. Assist and refer individuals in need of substance use, mental health and other services
  • Prepare and implement program curriculum, and all other printed materials required by the program.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, seminars, etc. for the purpose of providing training and education.
  • Report progress and activities to the program director and program coordinator on a regular basis.
  • Conduct himself/herself in a respectable manner whether on or off the job.
  • Plan, organize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; excellent attention to detail and follow-through.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience providing at least one of the following: substance abuse prevention or treatment services, mental health, suicide education, health promotion services, school services, human services or extensive working experience in the fields of substance abuse prevention or treatment for more than three years. This experience may be cumulative.
  • Experience in group facilitation and public speaking.
  • Proven experience in marketing and communications experience.
  • User of Microsoft Office, basic knowledge of other software applications (e.g., database, desktop publishing, etc.…).
  • Preferred knowledge of substance abuse, mental health, suicide, risk and protective factor model; the principles of human behavior modification; substance abuse prevention and treatment terminology, methodology, organization, and practices.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regularly sits at a desk, drives a motor vehicle, and lifts or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Works for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail.
  • Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
  • Flexibility and ability to work evenings and weekends if the Executive Director
  • Work occasionally requires traveling using agency and/or personal vehicle.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required.
