Laboratory Director
The Laboratory Director is responsible for the overall operations, direction, and coordination of the personnel in the clinical laboratory. Activities included are performance of chemical, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests performed in the clinical laboratory to obtain data used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Ensures that services are of the best quality, are cost contained, and are carried out in an expeditious manner. The Laboratory Director is responsible for recognizing results or problems that require referral to the Clinical Laboratory Pathologist. Maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in Clinical Quality Improvement activities. Accountable to the department, medical director, and leadership group for planning and administering the departmental budget, equipment supplies purchases, personnel management, and regulatory agency expectations and compliance. The Laboratory Director maintains effective physician and intradepartmental relations.
