Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate High School Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. You will provide academic support for identified 9 - 12 grade students.

Experience:

BA in Special Education or experience as a Special Education paraprofessional preferred

Duties:

- Manage a caseload (identified students who need support) of students

-Be keenly aware of identified students’ courses, strengths and areas of needed support

-Understand the accommodations and diagnosis of caseload

-Monitor the grades of caseload & discuss all failing grades with teacher & student

-Speak with teachers of students to understand areas of improvement, opportunities for

re-taking of tests or re-submissions of work

-Communicate with parents, teachers & students about students’ academic performance

as needed

-Communicate with teachers about missed accommodations and potential supports

needed

-Converse with Director of Student Support about significant concerns or unmet needs of

caseload

-Assist with reading to students, scribing or modification of assignments for caseload

-Teach study skills, within the context of current courses, to caseload

- Experience working with high school students

- Knowledge of working with students with developmental disabilities or behavior management

- Utilize technology and other resources to enhance the learning experience

- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in education

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
