We are looking for Commodity Inspector to be part of the Field Operations team!
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Under minimal supervision, determines and executes the assigned daily tasks to be completed.
  • Communicates with the work locations, eg: terminals, sidings, refineries, warehouses etc., regarding planning, updating and execution of appointments.
  • Witness vessel, train truck, road truck or barge loading or off loading, sampling, and product handling of various commodity products including but not limited to ores, grains, fuels and other products.
  • Performs routine equipment calibration, verification, and function checks.
  • Samples product, records weights and monitors quantity of products. 
  • Grading and classification of some of the products.
  • Provides daily updates of each work appointment to management and the client.
  • Compiles all operational reports on during and on completion of work appointments.
  • Verifies and communicates results obtained, and makes appropriate entries into logs, worksheets, reports, and any other media, whether print or electronic, required, assuring the validity and traceability of the information.
  • Maintains documentation, equipment, and work area in a neat, orderly and safe condition.
  • Performs a variety of operational execution and reporting in a timely manner according to prescribed methods and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all issues relating to all business-related activities.
  • Ensures that all health and safety regulations are followed. 
  • Prioritizes workload and follow work procedures.
  • Ensures accurate and consistent operational and administrative procedures through the validation of all current procedures, and as required, by developing, validating and implementing new procedures in conjunction with management.
  • Ensures that the operational needs are met and advises management of any discrepancies.
  • Regardless of reporting lines, the position will cooperate fully with all Site, Area, and Regional departments in dealing with the assigned responsibilities in a timely fashion.
  • Respects of deadlines and budget for projects implementation.
  • Maintains high standards of customer relations and service.
Agriculture
  • Prepares and organize inspection jobs so that services are rendered, and reports and samples are submitted, in a timely manner.
  • Attends commodity material movements involving loading and unloading of rail cars or trucks or loading or discharge of cargo in containers or other modes of transport.
  • Verifies shipment quantity, weight and quality conforms to requirements.
  • Performs routine equipment calibration, verification, and function checks.
  • Performs, by specified methodology, visual observation, volume measurement, temperature measurement, and sampling of commodity materials contained or conveyed in rail cars or trucks, containers, or other modes of transport at different locations in accordance with applicable standards and procedures.
  • Verifies and communicates the results obtained, and to make the entries into the appropriate media, whether print or electronic, required to ensure the validity and traceability of the information. 
  • Maintains work areas, records, and equipment in a clean, organized, and functional condition.
  • Monitors the availability of the supplies needed for the above processes, and to make any needs for such supplies known to the Site Manager.
  • Assists in the inspection, quality system application and organizational training of less experienced employees by utilizing approved online and printed materials and/or materials supplied by Cotecna management.
  • Maintains and calibrate field equipment in conjunction with the methods and intervals the Operations Manager has set.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School education and proficiency in the English language with preference for one years’ experience working in a commercial lab.
  • Depth knowledge of operations, agents, surveyors and facilities at the different coal loading terminals in the USA and Canada.
  • Knowledge of specific product industry or technician level is an advantage.
  • Should have a valid driver license.
