Software Engineers perform development work across the technology stack (both front-end/back-end expertise). They are versatile in how they can add value, demonstrating the ability to manage the completion of projects that involve databases, backend services, or the development of front-end applications. They should be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of emerging technologies to support the development of new solutions. Software Engineers understand the full technology stack and underlying applications, services, and databases in order to ensure optimal performance.

Costco is looking for a dedicated and experienced C#, ASP.Net developer to design, develop, maintain, extend applications, and implement projects in accordance with the Costco development and project management methodologies and practices. ROLE

Develops the conceptual systems architecture design and the supporting technologies needed to enable new and/or enhanced functionality within a given product/application, applying principles that promote availability, reusability, interoperability, and security into the design framework.

Supports release planning activities in conjunction with Product Owners and teams.

Identifies high level requirements to support the definition and refinement of a robust testing strategy.

Supports the Product Owner with the identification and definition of enablers/work items to support the architectural runway of a given product/application.

Defines the non-functional requirements (e.g., performance, security, resiliency, etc.) which support the development of epics and user stories aligned to a value stream.

Identifies technical dependencies across several product/application teams to support the implementation of new or enhanced functionality.

Develops and implements front-end architecture to support user interface concepts.

Increases proficiency and understanding of relational and non-relational databases, distributed application architectures, user interfaces and user experience, quality assurance, security concerns, and business value creation.

Drives engineering best practices to deliver higher quality and scalable solutions.

Provides the team with the development strategy, solution recommendations, and estimates for a given product/application.

Participates in scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, retrospective, showcases/demos, stand-ups, backlog refinement, etc.).

Creates and executes unit tests which validate the code changes made to support the implementation of a user story.

Uses test driven development (TDD) practices to assist with the detection/recognition of software defects early in the development process.

Estimates, plans, and manages all implementation tasks and reports on development progress.

Designs, builds, debugs, optimizes, and implements solutions in approved tool sets and databases.

Supports, extends, and builds automated CI and CD pipelines.

Designs and delivers DevSecOps automation for app deployment and testing.

Uses APM/monitoring tools such as Dynatrace/Splunk and browser tools to perform request purepath/waterfall analysis to identify bottlenecks and suggest improvements.

Participates in the development and documentation of department standards and best practices, and mentors’ junior engineers.

Identifies deficiencies within a product/application’s code base and identifies opportunities to improve overall code quality.

Coding Skills:

Develops high quality, efficient, and fast code. Ensures the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. Experience in high transaction processing eCommerce websites is a plus.

Performs development, debugging, optimization, and automation activities to support the implementation of a product/application.

Conducts peer code reviews for the software changes made by other engineers within a team. Is knowledgeable to bring best practices and coding efficiencies to drive better coding practices throughout the organization.

Develops PaaS Applications using Azure Platform Components e.g., Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Service Bus, EventHub, Redis cache, and AKS etc.

System Architecture & Design & Business Analysis:

Works with Software Patterns and their application to application needs/problem statements.

Works with Azure DevOps, Build Tools, and Unit Testing Frameworks.

Adopts engineering best practices to deliver higher quality and scalable solutions.

Designs, develops, tests, and documents mission-critical business applications.

Demonstrates a strong understanding of emerging technologies to support the development of new solutions.

Creates conceptual and detailed technical design documents.

Understands the full technology stack and underlying applications, services, and databases in order to ensure optimal performance.

Team Work:

Works with and supports Systems Architects with the design of the overall architecture of a specific product/application and applies the principles that promote availability, reusability, interoperability, and security into the design framework.

Collaborates with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, Quality Assurance Analysts, Software Developers, and Release Analysts in a DevOps model to extend the capabilities of the applications.

Collaborates with a cross-functional team to define system scope, objectives, and establish baselines.

Leads Agile practices to mature to future software architectures by following secure software development lifecycle.

Provides accurate and timely estimates (work breakdown schedules).

Documents and executes unit and integration tests.

Provides 3rd-level application support for the Pharmacy E-Commerce applications.

REQUIRED

Proficient (minimum 4 years’ experience) with C#, ASP.Net; with a strong knowledge of its related technologies.

Familiarity with the .NET framework 4.0 or later.

Working knowledge of Web Services, SOAP, and XML technologies.

Experience programming in major database and middleware technologies.

Proficient working knowledge of code versioning tools such as Git, SVN, etc.

Strong development experience in messaging-oriented Client Server Business Applications with Cosmos DB, SQL Server, and Oracle Backends.

Strong knowledge of object-oriented concepts.

Understanding of Telemetry and its application in proactive debugging, performance tuning, and health monitoring of applications.

Experience with designing JSON messaging formats.

Experience with Client-end technologies like HTML, ReactJS, Node.js, JavaScript, Bootstrap, CSS, etc.

Programming Languages like C# (Mandatory), JAVA (Preferable).

Familiarity with continuous integration.

Strong communication skills; both oral and written.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other technical experts, develop solution, and functional design documents to support development of final solutions, provide project estimates, and lead technical teams to consistently meet commitments.

High integrity, accountability, a positive attitude, and be willing to do what it takes to make the team successful.

Proven ability to manage priorities and timelines.

Proven ability to provide project estimates and work-breakdown schedules.

Extremely responsive; able to work under pressure in crisis with a strong sense of urgency.

Responsible, conscientious, organized, self-motivated, and able to work with limited supervision.

Detail-oriented and possesses strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze for potential future issues.

24/7 on call responsibilities on a rotational basis.

Recommended

Experience in ASP.net (C#) (Web forms and User Controls), AJAX concepts, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Telerik (3rd party controls), OOPS Concepts and Design Patterns.

Working knowledge of backend and Pharmacy Management components, web services, related interfaces, and configuration.

Previous E-Commerce experience in production support team lead or related role.

Pay Ranges: 

Level 3 - $130,000 - $160,000

Senior - $150,000 - $190,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
