Structural steel erector, installer or fabricator will perform hands-on work at construction sites, focusing on the erection and assembly of structural steel components for themed projects.

Location: Orlando, FL

Shift: Varies; 1st shift with varying hours, including possible overtime and weekend work

Employment Type: Direct hire; non-exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Safely erect and install structural steel components at construction sites, ensuring alignment with project specifications.
  2. Accurately read and follow blueprints and engineering plans to execute on-site structural work.
  3. Perform on-site welding and joining of steel components, ensuring structural integrity and alignment with design themes.
  4. Work closely with superintendents, project managers, and other construction team members to ensure seamless integration of steel structures into the overall theme.
  5. Conduct on-site inspections and quality checks of steel structures, addressing any issued promptly.
  6. Operate tools, heavy machinery and equipment required for on-site steelwork.
  7. Interpret blueprints and design documents to accurately fabricate steel structures
  8. Strictly adhere to safety requirements and equipment guidelines.
  9. Follow all company policies and procedures.
  10. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Demonstrated experience in structural steel erection and assembly in a construction environment.
  • Skilled in welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Strong commitment to safety, with knowledge of industry-standard safety practices.
  • Capacity to apply common sense to detailed instructions and handle standardized situations.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints is preferred.
  • Forklift and light equipment operations experience is a plus.
  • OSHA/safety training is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Tasks involve handling, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Excellent vision including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
  • Capacity to lift 70 lbs. from floor to waist, 90 lbs. from waist to chest, 25 lbs. from chest to overhead, carry 50 lbs. over a distance of 50 ft., push a 100 lbs. wheeled cart over a distance of 100 ft., and drag 50 lbs. over a distance of 100 ft.

Work Environment

  • Exposed to typical construction noises, smells, fumes, airborne particles, and machinery.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels.
