COST of Wisconsin, Inc. is Hiring a Shipping and Receiving Laborer Near Jackson, WI

Summary

A shipping and receiving laborer will pack and prepare materials, equipment, and product for shipping, receive incoming shipments, load and unload trucks, and perform other needed general labor tasks to support the operations within the manufacturing facility.

TRAINING PROVIDED FOR ENTRY LEVEL APPLICANTS.

Location: Jackson, WI

Shift: M – F; 6:00am – 4:30pm; Saturday hours available; possible 2nd shift Sun - Th 6:00pm - 4:30am

Employment Type: Direct hire; non-exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Package materials, equipment and product for shipping. Ensure items packaged are properly packaged by use of appropriate boxing, crating, shrink-wrapping, etc. methods.
  2. Verify packing list to ensure accuracy of shipments prior to loading.
  3. Load and unload incoming trucks (company owned and common carrier shipments).
  4. Inspect loads and ensure bills of lading are accurate.
  5. Verify the quantity and quality of items received.
  6. Complete and maintain all required paperwork.
  7. Check work area for hazards.
  8. Clean up dirt and debris in work area.
  9. Perform various general labor duties as assigned.
  10. Drive a forklift (training provided).
  11. Use hand and power tools (drills, saws, read a tape measure).
  12. Work independently and with project team.
  13. Adhere to safety requirements and equipment guidelines.
  14. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  15. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Some high school; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Read and comprehend instructions. Able to effectively communicate with other employees.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints preferred.
  • Fiberglass, steel, concrete, artistic, and carpentry skills preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Use hands to handle or feel; stand; walk; climb or balance; stop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Lift 70 lbs. floor to waist; lift 90 lbs. waist to chest; lift 25 lbs. chest to overhead; carry 50 lbs. over a distance of 50 ft.; push a 100 lbs. wheeled cart over a distance of 100 ft.; and drag 50 lbs. over a distance of 100 ft.

Work Environment

  • Exposed to typical noises and smells associated with the production environment, such as exposure to fumes or airborne particles and production machinery. Noise level is moderate to loud.
