Summary

The CDL over-the-road (OTR) driver - laborer role is hybrid position that combines making scheduled pick-ups and deliveries to the company’s work sites, and working in the production facility when delivery and pick-up needs decrease. The CDL OTR driver hauls various types of construction equipment, materials, and projects throughout the continental United States, and occasionally Canada, traveling between company headquarters and company job sites. Candidate will have the opportunity to work in any area of the production facility to fulfill shop labor duties based on individual skillset.

Fleet consists of late model Peterbilt trucks. Loads are company equipment and materials. Flexible schedule allows drivers to plan routes. Must be 21 years of age or older to apply. COST is not a trucking company.

Location: Jackson, WI with travel across continental United States, and occasionally Canada

Shift: Varies; M – Th when driving (most weeks); home most weekends; M – F when working in production facility, with option to work four 10-hour shifts, five 8-hour shifts, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Drive OTR throughout the continental U.S. and occasionally Canada.
2. Chain and tarp loads.
3. Load and unload equipment as needed.
4. Ensure proper truck maintenance and cleanliness.
5. Maintain accurate driver/shipment logs and reports.
6. Adhere to safety requirements and equipment guidelines.
7. Perform a variety of general or specialized tasks based on skillset to support ongoing projects in the production facility.
8. Drive a forklift (training provided).
9. Use hand tools (drills, saws, read a tape measure).
10. Work independently and with project team.
11. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
12. Perform other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Holds a valid class “A” commercial driver’s license (CDL).
• Minimum two years of OTR experience preferred. (Will consider all applicants regardless of experience.)
• Clean driving history.
• Ability to pass background check, department of transportation (DOT) physical, drug screen, and credit check prior to employment.
• Experience loading and unloading product and equipment.

• Lift 70 lbs. floor to waist; lift 90 lbs. waist to chest; lift 25 lbs. chest to overhead; carry 50 lbs. over a distance of 50 ft.; push a 100 lbs. wheeled cart over a distance of 100 ft.; and drag 50 lbs. over a distance of 100 ft.

Work Environment

• Some exposure to production and construction environment. Noise level may be moderate to loud.
