Job Title: Quality Control Lab - Quality Control Chemist (QCL- QC. Chemist)
Job Summary:
The QC Chemist will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of our cosmetic products through rigorous testing and analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in chemistry, have a thorough understanding of cGMP, GLP, GDP guidelines, and be proficient in utilizing analytical instruments such as FTIR, HPLC, and ICP. Additionally, the Lab Chemist will collaborate closely with third-party laboratories, manage sample submissions, and generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) to meet industry standards and regulations .

  • Quality Control Lab Manager
Responsibilities & Standard Work:
  • Analytical Testing:
    • Perform comprehensive testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished cosmetic products to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with established specifications.
    • Utilize advanced analytical instruments including FTIR, HPLC, and ICP to conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses.
    • Interpret test results and identify any deviations from expected parameters, taking appropriate actions as necessary.
    • Test and analyze OTC products, non-OTC products, and other materials as assigned.
  • cGMP, GLP, and GDP Compliance:
    • Adhere to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) throughout all laboratory activities.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of testing procedures, results, and observations in accordance with regulatory requirements.
    • Document results following laboratory guidelines and cGMP practices. Clearly, concisely, and logically communicate issues and outcomes to management in a timely fashion.
    • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and out-of-specification (OOS) or out-of-trend results. Use clear reasoning to develop and evaluate investigation hypotheses, results, and any corrective and/or preventative actions needed. Assist in evaluating and troubleshooting third-party OOS investigations.
  • Third-Party Laboratory Interaction:
    • Collaborate with external third-party laboratories to coordinate sample submissions, testing protocols, and result coordination.
    • Communicate effectively with third-party labs to ensure seamless sample management and timely receipt of accurate test data.
  • Certificate of Analysis (COA) Generation:
    • Prepare accurate and comprehensive Certificates of Analysis (COAs) based on testing outcomes for each batch of finished products.
    • Ensure that COAs accurately reflect the quality and compliance of products, meeting the expectations of clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Quality Control and Troubleshooting:
    • Identify potential quality issues, deviations, or non-conformities during testing processes and work collaboratively with the Quality Control team to address and rectify them.
    • Participate in root cause analysis and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:
    • Maintain analytical instruments, ensuring proper functioning through routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration.
    • Notify relevant personnel in case of equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs if necessary.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow established safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment in the laboratory.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, guidelines, and best practices related to cosmetic manufacturing and testing.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, ensuring smooth laboratory workflow and daily operations.
