We are looking for a talented Technical Director, Unreal Engine to help architect, design and build experiences and tools that bring Cosm’s shared reality to life. You will be responsible for leading the implementation and architecture of our immersive environments in Unreal using a combination of blueprints and C , and will help the team to debug and troubleshoot problems across distributed systems. We expect all of our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities, and to be enthusiastic when taking on novel problems that no one else has ever had the need to solve. This person will help bridge the work between programmers, technical artists and design to deliver experiences, ideas, assets, and animations for cross-platform experiences that will define the future of live events through shared reality, virtual reality, mobile and beyond.Responsibilities:Oversee the architecture, development and creation of amazing shared reality experiences in Unreal Engine.Design, build and enhance our technology platforms, backend services, APIs, and developer tools, to improving the development process on our platform.Oversee and work directly with programmers/engineers to ensure proprietary applications include necessary features that allow our technicians to successfully operate Unreal Engine on multi-GPU arrays.Act as subject matter expert and escalation point for the day-to-day operational activities across the landscape of applications utilized by the business.Automate repetitive and complex tasks by developing tools and processes that our team can rely on for daily development, testing, and release management.Set forth code quality guidelines and standards, lead code reviews and ensure that all solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications.Contribute to high-level strategic decisions with the rest of the Engineering and Executive teams.Foster and support a great engineering team culture and help grow the team personally and in size.Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies.Exemplify excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to deftly tailor technical communications to any audience.Push the limits, try new technologies, take calculated risks, swing for the fences and proactively search for the best solutions and ideas in the marketplace. Qualifications:8-10 years of professional software development experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.Strong experience in Unreal Engine is required.Shipped games or VR experiences in Unreal Engine, and well versed in large-scale development using C .A strong portfolio of previous work and completed projects.Expert level understanding of C required; experience with Python and C# desired.Expert level knowledge of Unreal Blueprints.Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.Experience with Rendering pipelines (Direct3D, Vulkan) is a strong plus.Familiarity with nDisplay or other multi-machine rendering systems is a plus.Experience with shader development, computer vision and generative AI is a strong plus.Experience managing and building highly engaged and high performing engineering teams.Able to demonstrate experience developing, releasing, and maintaining large-scale software applications.You’re not afraid of an open, candid, and respectful work environment.Passion for sports, gaming, live video, and eSports is a plus.Driven to automate your processes, test continually, and document your work.Experience in working with a cross-functional, distributed team from concept through completion and future iterations including agile methodologies.Excellent time management skills.About CosmCosm is an equal-opportunity employer. The base salary offered will factor in internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant experience, among other factors.
