  • Loss Prevention Specialist*

Position Objective:The Loss Prevention Specialist (LPS) is responsible for the protection of company assets by means of internal and external shrink mitigation. The LPS works collaboratively with various store personnel and management to leverage all available tools to help reduce external theft. The LPS is responsible for all investigations and duties assigned by the Loss Prevention Operations Manager (LPOM).

Knowledge

The following is a list of any certifications, formal education, or training requirements for this position.

Essential Knowledge

  • (2) years Loss Prevention experience in a retail environment preferred
  • Wicklander-Zulawski Interviewing and Interrogation certification preferred.
  • Must be available to travel to (30) different store locations throughout the Greater Kansas City area.
  • Demonstrated proficiency monitoring sales floor activity for potential theft related incidents.
  • Working knowledge of current technology and its application to the role (CCTV, POS systems, case management software, etc.).
  • Proven ability to drive consensus at all levels of the enterprise through clear, concise and complete information.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and to gain buy in and support of multiple partners to ensure successful internal program outcomes.
  • Can be counted on to deliver results that are of the highest operational integrity with a high level of confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated and advanced proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint) and ability to learn new software programs with minimal training.

Essential Job Functions

  • Utilize CCTV and company reporting tools to identify and mitigate internal and external shrink.
  • Detect, apprehend and process individuals who have been witnessed stealing company property in a professional manner in accordance with company policies.
  • Represent the company in criminal actions as a result of apprehensions or workplace violence incidents.
  • Participate in special investigations assigned by the Loss Prevention Operations Manager.
  • Provide in-store training to personnel and management as assigned by the Loss Prevention Operations Manager.
  • Lead store and corporate initiatives through meetings, one on one conversations and companywide communication.
  • Review and retain video for apprehensions and workplace violence incidents, communicating with HR as required.
  • Utilize and leverage case management database to develop consistent field communication and reporting.
  • Attend and audit SKU based inventories reviewing; warehouse organization, sales floor preparation, count accuracy and item file management.
  • Develop external relationships and network within the law enforcement communities surrounding store locations.
  • Participate in initiatives and special projects to strengthen overall Loss Prevention department.
  • Actively search out operational knowledge and current best practices to better understand store operations.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with local, state, and federal health/civil code regulations.

Physical Abilities

The following physical movements could potentially be part of any scheduled shift and employees will be expected to perform these actions while on duty.

Essential Abilities

Normal office and store level Loss Prevention demands including, but not limited to:

  • Sitting for extended periods of time reviewing video surveillance.
  • Physical monitoring of sales floor for extended periods of time.
  • Able to stand and walk for several hours on tile, asphalt, concrete or other hard surfaces.
  • Climbing ladders and stooping to access remote offices.

Flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business (schedule may include evenings, weekends and holidays as well as traveling to multiple stores per day).
