About The Job: Corus International & IMA is seeking a highly motivated individuals for a Deputy Technical Director position for the USAID Global Health Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Follow-on Activity. This activity seeks to improve health and development outcomes through increased implementation of theory-informed, evidence-based, locally led social and behavior change programming and evidence generation across health and development areas. 

The Deputy Technical Director will be responsible for providing overall technical support and guidance to the project's vision, while also playing a key role in overseeing core tasks and country program management. The Deputy Technical Director will work closely with the Deputy Project Director to manage cross-functional teams, field support buy-ins, and project activities from award through close-out. They will plan and monitor budget and spending, organize interdepartmental and cross-partner activities, and ensure completion of the project on schedule and within the budget. They will ensure collaboration among technical teams.

Responsibilities :

  • Provides overall technical oversight of and creates space for innovation and technical excellence in all program activities.
  • Collaborates closely with senior staff, technical advisors, and partners to support the project's strategic direction, core and field work plans, ensuring alignment with USAID priorities and global best practices.
  • Supervises technical staff and guides their work in both long and short-term activities at a global and country level.
  • Provides strategic guidance for the documentation and dissemination of technical content and successful project results and impact.
  • Mentors and maintains strong relationships with consortium colleagues, including thoughtful alignment and collaboration during work planning, and purposeful fostering of internal (project staff and partner) talent and capacity.
  • Work closely with the MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning) team to ensure measurement, evaluation, and learning are integrated into all design, implementation, and reporting, including emphasis on ensuring results contribute to the evidence base throughout the life of the project and legacy.
  • Collaborate with the knowledge management team and consortium partners to ensure that SBC technical frameworks, tools, and lessons are made widely available and that lessons are disseminated at country, regional, and global levels.
  • Serves on the senior management team to ensure development, integration, implementation, and collaboration of system processes and tools essential to project success.
  • Reviews technical deliverables for completeness, accuracy, and overall quality.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or its equivalent in Public Health, Social Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Economics, International Development, or a related field.
  • At least 15 years of senior level technical experience in international social and behavior change programs in low- and middle-income countries. Experience applying technical and management expertise to address persistent issues related to quality of care, local capacity strengthening, gender, measurement, and use of the full range of SBC approaches preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing technical quality of global health programs across a range of health technical areas.
  • Proven ability to work with governments in low- and middle-income countries, and work with local partners and stakeholders in scaling-up innovative, evidence-informed programming.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning, staff development and capacity strengthening experience in SBC.
  • Experience providing direct technical assistance to country programs, national entities and/or USAID as required at local, regional, or national level.
  • Experience implementing policy agendas, advocacy, and developing strategic partnerships with public and private sector entities.
  • Ability to conduct and support research activities, data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  • Able to successfully lead a team with multiple competing priorities to consistently submit timely, high-quality deliverables.
  • Knowledge of USAID and other donor policies, strategies, and priorities highly preferred.
  • Fluency in English with strong oral and written communication.
  • French fluency is a plus.
  • Comfort and familiarity with representing the Project and Corus at external events, technical working groups, and international forums.
