About The Job: Corus & IMA is seeking a highly motivated individual for a Deputy Project Director position for the USAID Global Health Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Follow-on Activity. This activity seeks to improve health and development outcomes through increased implementation of theory-informed, evidence-based, locally led social and behavior change programming and evidence generation across health and development areas.
The Deputy Project Director will be responsible for supporting the project's vision, while also playing a key role in overseeing core tasks and country program management. The Deputy Project Director will work closely with the Project Director to manage cross-functional teams, field support buy-ins, and project activities from award through close-out. They will plan and monitor budget and spending, organize interdepartmental and cross-partner activities, and ensure completion of the project on schedule and within the budget. They will ensure collaboration among partners, including facilitating integrated work planning and regular coordination to ensure meaningful integration of core and cross-cutting technical areas.
Responsibilities :
  • Support the Project Director in developing and implementing overall project strategies, resource allocation processes, performance reporting to ensure achievement of results.
  • Monitor the development of annual workplans and ensure that agreed activities and targets are fully accomplished, meet expected technical and management quality standards, and are delivered on schedule and on budget.
  • Oversee timely and accurate financial reporting to organization management and donor as required. Prepares and monitors approved budgets for assigned projects.
  • Supervise and assess the performance of senior staff and ensure supervisory and accountability systems are in place for all long-term and short-term advisors, sub-partners, consultants, and staff.
  • Oversees the sub-contract and sub- grant cycle from pre-award to close- out including solicitation processes, pre-award, award, monitoring, and close-out of sub-awards based on donor regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the Project Director to proactively identify opportunities for new project initiatives and funding to support them.
  • Serve as a liaison with country mission clients and facilitate effective country program management and delivery with the program support team.
  • Support the Project Director to troubleshoot project implementation issues, bringing together relevant actors to identify potential solutions.
  • Provides leadership to staff to ensure the development of timely, high quality, and regulation compliant activity reporting per organization and donor guidelines.
  • Recruits, orients, and supervises project staff to support the project and ensure the completion of programmatic and workforce planning needs are met and achieved.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Master's level education/training or its equivalent in Business Administration, International Development, Economics, Public Health, Social Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience leading teams in implementing country programs and work planning for international health and development programs (social and behavior change oriented programs preferred).
  • Experience in designing and implementing management systems to support country program implementation and familiar with core/field support program structures.
  • Experience working with U.S. Government agencies, international donors, or other multilateral agencies. Demonstrated experience in advocacy and SBC projects.
  • Proficient with applicable rules, regulations, and policies associated with international development and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to supervise team members and manage professional relationships.
  • Experience at the global level for complex project management. Proven ability to represent the project and Corus at external events and global fora.
  • Prior experience in senior-level leadership positions on projects of similar scope and complexity essential.
  • Fluency in English with strong oral and written communication.
  • Professional fluency in other languages preferred.
