Regulatory Sciences R&D is seeking to hire a Lab Technician at our Johnston, IA campus.

What You'll Do:

  • Implement formal assay validations for insect diets, grain-based diets, 28d, acute tox lot diets, and processed fractions.
  • Principal Investigator for pre-diet characterization and studies.
  • Create protein assay (ELISA and Western blot) method validation summary reports for country submissions.
  • Provide protein analytical support through a team of researchers in Seeds Regulatory Sciences.
  • Transfer protein assays and reagents for both in- and out-licensed traits that support our product development and submissions
  • Serve as Study Director for regulatory protein safety studies including but not limited to quantification of proteins or metabolites in biotech products
  • Contributing scientist for protein expression/characterization studies.
  • Contributing scientist for protein assay validation studies.
  • Contributing scientist for protein analysis on project teams.
  • Draft and execute SOPs for analytical assays and characterization.
  • Co-author scientific papers and peer review submitted papers that support registration of new traits for chemical and plant journals.
  • Maintain continuous engagement with established quality management systems, programs, and auditing teams to maintain compliance of protocols and reports.
  • Represent and communicate protein analysis data to diverse stakeholders.
  • Build protein analytic capability within the department through coaching and mentoring – people leadership.
  • Explore novel technologies to improve and enhance Protein Sciences productivity and efficiency.

This role can accommodate a hybrid work arrangement where you may work 1 days a week from home.

Qualifications


What Skills You Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related scientific fields.
  • Some industry experience working in the laboratory is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GLPs and understanding of biotech regulatory guidance is desired.
  • Creative thinking and ability to work both independently and in team environments is critical.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, while meeting critical deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally by phone, email, and in-person with internal employees.
  • Excellent organizational skills and record keeping ability.
  • Ability to coach technical staff equitably and professionally is a plus.
