Corsicana ISD is Hiring an Executive Director of Communications and Marketing Near Corsicana, TX

Primary Purpose:

Provide strategic communications counsel to the Superintendent and district leadership team as a member of the superintendent’s administrative cabinet. Work to ensure sound public relations practices are in place to support the mission, vision and goals of the school district. Implement effective communications/marketing strategies that positively impact student success. Promote strong public relations between the greater Corsicana community and the school district.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or related field

3-5 years of supervision and management experience in a public school district or organization is preferred. 

Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) is preferred. 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Departmental

1. Serves in an advisory capacity to the Superintendent and central-office administration in an effort to ensure sound public relations practices and strategic problem-solving.

2. Serves as the representative and spokesperson for the school system with the community and surrounding media.

3. Serves as the communication liaison to School Board members.

4. Facilities two-way communication and an on-going public engagement process between the school district and its internal and external stakeholders.

5. Assists in the Emergency Operations and Crisis Communications plans for the District.

6. Adheres to state requirements for the dissemination of accountability, assessment, and public information to key stakeholders.

7. Contributes to the recommendation of sound policies directed toward program improvement.

8. Sets annual communications and marketing goals to ensure the maximum utilization of district resources, services, and facilities.

9. Manages day-to-day messaging and activities of the district through all available print, visual, and online communication tools.

10. Deals sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.

11. Oversees the planning and coordination of special events.

12. Serves as the district representative on community committees, as requested.

13. Assists in the recruitment of district staff, including participation in job fairs.

14. Assists in planning and implementing special projects, such as annual districtwide convocation, bond election campaigns, groundbreaking ceremonies, retirement and staff awards, and recognition.

15. Provides training and professional development opportunities for staff on topics such as customer service initiatives, social media strategies, emergency preparation, and other district initiatives.

16. Administers the Collins Scholarship Program (Application Process, Check Requests, Board Reports, Scholar Communication, etc.)

17. Provides guidance, support, and assistance as necessary to the Director of the Corsicana Education Foundation (CEF) and the CEF Board.

Budget and Inventory

18. Ensures that programs are cost-effective and funds are managed well.

19. Compiles budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.

Personnel Management

20. Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates Communications Department personnel and makes sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal.

Other

21. Attends professional growth activities to keep abreast of innovations in assigned areas.

22. Remains current in professional areas through state/regional meetings, research, and reading to identify trends and practices to support the district.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervise and evaluate the performance of all members of the Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing Department.

Frequent district-wide travel and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
