Tank Wagon Driver

Position Overview

Required licenses and certifications : CDL B LICENSE, HAZMAT, TANKER.

Schedule : Night Shift : Tuesday - Saturday, 5 : 00PM - 5 : 00AM 10 - 12 Hour Shifts.

Night Shift : Sunday - Thursday, 5 : 00PM - 5 : 00AM 10 - 12 Hour Shifts.

Drive a straight truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW to transport and deliver petroleum-based products. There will be exposure to dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low-lighted work areas and high noise levels.

Fuel tank driver may be required to drive in hazardous conditions, including weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations.

Compliance with all DOT, Company and Safety Policies, procedures and practices are required at all times.

Primary Duties

• Able to drive both manual and automatic transmission transport vehicles in various road conditions throughout Michigan and surrounding states.
• Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
• Load fuels as instructed at designed truck rack using fuel arms and hoses that require lifting requirements of 50 pounds without assistance.
• Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to : checking oil and fuel levels
• Complete all "pre-trip" requirements before each truck run and "post-trip" requirement at the end of each shift. This requires ability to push 146 pounds and pull 146 pounds.
• Able to lift 50 lbs. of necessary equipment and physically be able to load and unload trucks. Ability to operate Smart Logix computer system or similar.
• Ability to climb ladder with a minimum of 3 rungs regularly throughout shift.
• Ability to read and complete written documentation with respect to Bill of Lading, Inventory, Pre and Post trips inspections, Orders and Fuel ticket copies.

Ensure fuel tickets match orders.

• Follows company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
• Other duties as assigned by management and operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Skills and Qualifications of Fuel Tank Driver

• Experience driving in all types of weather conditions.
• Pass pre-employment DOT physical, drug screen, 7-year criminal background check and Clearinghouse query.
• Acceptable driver's license and must be able to pass a road test given by Corrigan.
