Propane Handler

Job Overview

This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Department Manager. Monday Friday and occasional weekends.

Primary Duties

• Paint cages and / or other assets.
• Repair tanks as necessary.
• Maintenance on a variety of company assets related to the cylinder process and otherwise.
• Handle high-pressure and liquid cylinders.
• Manage paperwork to DOT, OSHA, and Corrigan standards as applicable.
• Assist loading / unloading cylinders and hard goods on / off pallets and on / off tractor trailers.
• Inspect cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government, Corrigan, and distributor standards.
• Prepare high pressure cylinders for filling : Attach to manifold, evacuate cylinders to eliminate all possible contaminants.
• Fill cylinders by pressure and weight, per regulations and standards and accurately labels cylinders.
• Conduct a variety of Safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests, checking caps and valves.
• Complete quality control sheets as required.
• Understand hazards of various gases; size and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks.
• Comply with all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials / cylinder gases.
• Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds of necessary equipment; push and pull 75 pounds; stand for extended time.

Qualifications / Experience / Education

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 years of position related experience preferred.
• Pass 7-year criminal background check.
