FSLA Status: Full Time - Non-exempt
Salary: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour

Job Description
The Medical Records Specialist helps accomplish company goals by facilitating all medical records request to increase collections. This position works alongside the Charge Entry team and ensures all records are retrieved via the EMR system and/or by contacting individual facilities. The ideal candidate has the passion and drive, intelligence and integrity, high attention to detail, professionalism, and excellent follow skills to accomplish goals.
Responsibilities:
* Retrieves all requests for medical records in a timely fashion
* Reviews medical records for completeness
* Prepares and organizes charts/documentation and sends to insurance carriers
* Ensures billed charges and services rendered align
* Maintains and updates account records within the database to the status of the requests, completion of the records received and sent to the plans and follow up
* Identifies and reports any concerns or issues with regards to requests and/or obtaining medical records timely to management
* Executes and delivers special projects from management and other duties as assigned
* Adheres to documentation protocol, notates accounts and reports appropriately
* Participates in companywide and departmental meetings
* Commits to providing excellent customer service while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism while working in a team environment to meet goals
* Understands and complies with all HIPAA rules and regulations
Requirements/Qualifications:
* 1-2 years medical records experience preferred
* Strong attention to detail, goal oriented
* Ability to work efficiently within deadlines
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
* Ability to prioritize and multitask
* Adheres to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
* Proficiency using Microsoft Office products
