Experience & Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing Required, Bachelor’s degree in healthcare preferred
• Three (3) years of experience in healthcare administration setting preferred.
• Two (2) years of correctional experience preferred.
• Active RN license in state where position is located with unrestricted/non probationary status. Specialty certification desired (i.e. CCHP, ACHE, etc.).
• Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
• Extensive travel required. Flexibility to manage multiple different contracts and consent degrees.
• Must maintain a current CPR certification.
• Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirement.

A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.

Responsibilities

Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Travel Director of Nursing with YesCare:

• Implements appropriate work structure and processes to accomplish goals for patient care specific to contract requirements and healthcare policy and procedures.
• Assists and supports professional and paraprofessional nursing staff in provision of patient care.
• Participates in screening interviews with candidates for basic knowledge, skills and fit within the corrections environment. Coordinates and monitors orientation, in-service and continuing education for nursing and ancillary personnel to enhance performance levels.
• Develops monthly schedule for nursing staff and nursing support staff and ensures that enough nursing staff are scheduled on each shift with the appropriate skill level.
• Ensures nursing practice conforms to state licensure, accreditation, and regulatory agency requirements in the clinical setting.
• Acts as a liaison with other operating units, agencies, and outside officials.
• Ensures that nursing records and nursing documentation are correctly maintained.
• Demonstrates accountability for ensuring an environment where professional conflict resolution is valued.
• Demonstrates objectivity, thoroughness, insightfulness, and probing behaviors when approaching problems.
• Ensures annual performance evaluations are conducted and completed with all personnel, including peer reviews.
• May ensure QIP (Quality Improvement Plans) are completed accurately and timely for submission.
• Holds monthly staff meetings with clinical staff to ensure compliance and communication of related healthcare information.
• Participates in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Activities.
• Participate in Patient Care Committee Meeting as needed.
• May counsel and discipline employees as warranted by breach of Corizon policies and procedures.
• Exercises discretion and independent judgment in decision-making process, planning, directing, conserving, and controlling the management of the facility.
• Attends meetings, Regional and Corporate, as required.
• Coordinates the Annual Health Services planning process for the site.
• Accepts on-call cell phone responsibilities.
• Assists with filling in shifts as needed
• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
