The Corix team has an opportunity for a Field Tech I - Maintenance based in Longwood, FL. Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of daily/monthly maintenance activities.

What you'll do

• Walks 5 – 10 miles per day over an established area.
• Reports any defects within the distribution system to the Maintenance Manager
• Completes assigned work in a timely fashion.
• Generate and accurately process completed work orders for assigned tasks in CMMS
• SPerforms annual hydrant maintenance monthly.
• Performs quarterly dead-end water main flushing, as assigned.
• Performs valve exercising, by hand or with the use of a valve exercising machine, as assigned.
• Assist with annual lift station drawdown testing.
• Travel with overnight stays may be required, but, would be minimal.
• Acts as liaison between the customers and customer service personnel for problem/complaint resolution.
• Assist with maintaining mechanical, electrical and piping systems for area water/wastewater facilities, collections and distribution systems.
• Constant, independent travel daily between worksites on Company time.
• Must work On-Call/Standby required during and after weather events.
• May assist with on-site customer communication.
• May assist with customer inquiries, requests and minor issues and other customer service-related matters.

 Experience

• Some mechanical or maintenance experience would be preferred.

Education and Certification

• High school Diploma or GED
• Must maintain a valid driver's license.

Nice to Have

• May be in process of obtaining Distribution and/or Collections Systems certificate or first-level plant operating license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, vendors and regulatory agencies.
• Ability to learn to read a variety of water meters.
• Ability to learn and understand tariffs as they apply to assigned duties.
• Ability to learn the methods, techniques, tools, equipment and materials used in the maintenance of fire hydrants.
• Ability to read maps, electrical schematics, blueprints, etc. 
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. 
• Ability to read and transfer digits accurately.
• Knowledge of cross connection regulations and ability to report violations and other unsafe conditions. 
• General knowledge of water meters, care and operation of a variety of tools and equipment, and safe work practices is helpful.
