Corium Innovations is Hiring a Cost/Project Accountant Near Grand Rapids, MI

Corium Innovations is seeking a Cost/Project Accountant to prepare balance sheet reconciliations to assist with month-end close, create monthly accruals, assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, review current workflow processes to identify inefficiencies, and partner with stakeholders within and outside the finance department. Responsibilities:
  • Maintain inventory costing, journal entries, and prepare and maintain R&D and Product costs and reporting.
  • Prepare monthly inventory and costing journal entries.
  • Apply fundamental accounting theories and concepts to support the cost accounting function.
  • Collect, update, and analyze all relevant costing data to develop and maintain standard costs for materials and labor.
  • Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, labor, and finished goods.
  • Analyze changes in raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost and margins.
  • Calculate actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs and investigate variances.
  • Review the integrity and reasonableness of the cost accounting systems on a periodic basis.
  • Coordinate periodic physical inventory counts.
  • Manage month-end financial close process for inventory and related items and work with the finance team on the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Work with R&D personnel to assemble annual R&D budget for both partnered and internal R&D projects.
  • Work with R&D to monitor the costs associated with ongoing projects for both partnered and internal R&D projects.
  • Meet with R&D personnel to report on monthly costs vs. budget and assist with forecast for upcoming expenses.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting, CPA and/or CMA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry strongly preferred.
  • Must have solid accounting knowledge with an understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) financial accounting.
  • Month-end close and financial statement prep.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with D365 and Concur preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to work with all levels of personnel in the Company.
  • Detail oriented and willingness to be hands on and get involved.
