We are actively recruiting a design professional focused on facilities management to join our collaborative and innovative firm in our Aviation market sector. This position is for a very specific opportunity to perform consulting services to an airline client at DFW International airport. Amazing opportunity for an experienced interior designer who is passionate about programming, space planning and focusing on the end goal. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated designer who wants to assume responsibility and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for working with the client and other DFW stakeholders to develop and plan space throughout the airport terminals, including both public facing and back-of-house spaces. The ideal candidate must be well-rounded with a flexible attitude, strong leadership and organizational skills, effective communication, a confident presenter, and a successful record of managing multiple projects and priorities while maintaining client-focus. Other responsibilities include:

  • Anticipate, understand and manage client expectations.
  • Define scope of services for self, as well as design service providers, contractors and vendors for client projects
  • Establish and manage project schedules.
  • Assist in the preparation of project budgets, particularly for FF&E. Aid in the preparation of construction budgets.
  • Provide leadership to client’s project team(s). Communicate project goals and expectations; review project team deliverables and provide comment.
  • Lead and encourage open dialogue with the client’s project team(s) regarding design and technical ideation and facilitate appropriate solutions.
  • Drive each project team to seek innovation in design solutions in an ongoing spirit of curiosity, continuous improvement, and increased project performance.
  • Motivate the project team to meet project goals through encouragement and/or course correction
  • Oversee the selection of materials, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment. Confirm adherence to the client’s standards where applicable.
  • Prepare and conduct project presentations.
  • Solicit proposals from vendors.
  • Assist in the preparation of bid documents on the client’s behalf for construction, FF&E and move and relocation services as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of contracts and/or purchase orders on behalf of the client.
  • Oversee project team’s administration of construction phase procedures and documentation (shop drawings/submittals, requests for information, and addenda/clarifications)
  • Oversee development and presentation of proposed project solutions to project stakeholders.
  • Actively explore and recognize new business opportunities through professional networks
  • Develop effective project directives, outlines, projections, schedules, and strategies over the course of the project.
  • Oversee development and communication of appropriate project phasing.
  • Identify solutions and effectively resolve technical challenges
  • Understand and apply appropriate industry standards and construction practices
  • Oversees, and is responsible for, the identification, understanding and documentation of regulatory agencies’ requirements, as well as recognizing and resolving code-related design issues
  • Demonstrate, share, and appropriately apply, new methodologies, practices, codes, and products
  • Assist with invoice review as requested by the client.

Qualifications

Qualified designers already exhibit these strengths and talents:

  • A degree from CIDA accredited Interior Design Program
  • 5 years of professional and commercial design experience focused on planning and coordination of a variety of spaces
  • Comfortable working with clients and on a variety of project sizes and types.
  • Experience with delivering both construction document and construction administration phases including code review is required
  • Present with skills in developing overall project work plans and consultant coordination, along with managing overall project fees and schedules
  • Applicant must have strong conceptual design and the ability to generate creative solutions for design tasks while respecting the functional parameters of each project.
  • Display strong design portfolio showing strengths in conceptual design, space planning skills and detailing
  • Demonstrated skills in developing design schemes and coordinating design teams
  • High commitment to QA/QC
  • Revit proficiency and technical excellence
  • Thorough understanding of how a drawing set goes together
  • Acumen for how things are built and constructability, and the ability to apply that knowledge to support the project design and budget
  • Experience managing a variety of consultants and contractors
  • Interest in sustainable design
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexible attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage client and team relationships including overall work plan development and sub-consultant coordination efforts
  • Confident presentation ability
