About this unit
2 West is comprised of a 23 bed Med/Surg Unit and a 23 bed Post- Surgical Unit. We have a very friendly staff who are welcoming and willing to mentor new RNs. We handle medium to high acuity patients with a 5 to 6 patient ratio. Our team is passionate about patient care and shared governance.
About Taylor Hospital
A Magnet-designated hospital that is a recognized health care leader serving the area since 1977. It offers specialty services that include 24-hour emergency care, wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a surgical pavilion, a pain management clinic, orthopedic surgery, an inpatient rehabilitation facility and full-service radiology, including advanced CT with cardiac scoring, fixed MRI including pacemaker, cinema vision and ultrasound (MSK and elastography).
Scope of work
The RN Manager is an experienced leader responsible for managing assigned areas and services and supervising assigned patient care staff to promote the creation of a center of excellence for staff recruitment and retention and clinical and business outcomes. The RN Manager is responsible to ensure safe and effective delivery of patient care and clinical outcomes, compliance with regulatory, administrative, and clinical standards, and policies and procedures. The RN Manager serves as a chief retention and safety officer. He/she ensures that safety and quality standards are upheld by effective use of data and technology to make decisions and proactively mitigates unnecessary risks for his/her area of responsibility. The RN Manager creates and ensures a desirable, safe work environment that enables the organization to meet or exceed its mission and goals. He/she models the way to foster communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and other departments. Role specific competencies, responsibilities, roles, and functions are based on the Professional Practice Model. This position reports to the Director of Nursing or above.
