Our Opportunity:

Corenic is seeking an Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) . This position is responsible for managing and performing the daily QC responsibilities of specific projects to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the established minimum standards. The CQCM role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the work flow process and working with the Project Manager, AE team and using agency.

In this role, the candidate will carry out the following essential duties and key responsibilities:

  • Must be capable of obtaining a thorough and complete knowledge and understanding of the contract requirements and scope of work from the review of the contract documents in entirety, inclusive of the drawings, specifications, addenda and revisions that may be encountered during the administration of the project.
  • Create and maintain a daily onsite activity log which should include the Contractor’s daily reports, recording weather, site conditions, active activities, manpower statistics, and safety for reference in the field by the PM, and A/E team.
  • Develop a quality control manual for the Project to forecast, plan and enforce onsite quality control/quality assurance procedures for trade work where specified.
  • Develop and maintain a project submittal log which includes all submittals specified for submission from the Contractor and tier-subcontractors and supplier/vendors.
  • Perform cursory review of shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project drawings and specifications, prior to distribution to the A/E team, who will review and approve each submittal package.
  • Chair and document weekly meetings with the PM, A/E team and using agency. Written minutes shall be provided as described in project specific contract documents. Prepare minutes for any other project meetings conducted.
  • Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confronts non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner. Maintain a log in the field for the County PM and A/E team’s reference and review.
  • Conduct preparatory, initial and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work.
  • Verify and document that all materials delivered and received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal; are handled and stored appropriately; and are acceptable for use in the project.
  • Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems.
  • Perform quality control testing and inspection in adherence with contract requirements and company best practices.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports to the County in the format provided.
  • Review, coordinate and distribute all submittals and RFI(s) to the A/E team for their response; distribute to the all team members; and manage timelines required for review to mitigate impeding delays.
  • Enforce the preparation and submission of coordination drawings by the Contractor and tier-subcontractors. Facilitate on-board review meetings with the Contractor and A/E team for approval of coordination drawings. Maintain a cohesive set of contract drawings and specifications, inclusive of the bid drawings, revised change order drawings, specifications and field directives.
  • Maintain project control systems (e.g. cost, change, schedule, and document control).
  • Review any/all amended architectural and engineering documents distributed to the field for accuracy and cohesiveness relative to unchanged base contract portions of work. Coordinate with the Contractor’s project execution team in the field to ensure amendments are understood and implemented.
  • Coordinate, schedule and maintain County TPIP Services.
  • Coordinate and monitor soil conditions documented by the TPIP for reference/submission to the geotechnical engineer for the Project (Part of A/E team). Schedule cursory site inspections/meetings to address areas of work that may compromise the integrity of the project.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience, skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years construction experience in construction quality control,
  • with experience in up out of the ground and/or large-scale building renovations
  • and alterations or similar type, size, scope and complexity
  • LEED certification is not a requirement, but preferred. Experience in LEED
  • projects will be considered
  • Engineering Degree in Civil, Architecture or Construction Management a must.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of construction materials, methods, and techniques.
  • Combination of high school diploma with QC experience and certifications will
  • be considered
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers "Construction Quality Management for
  • Contractors" Certification
  • Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Ability to speak clearly and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to work under pressure
