Job Title: Low Voltage Technician

Location: On the road

Job Type: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $15.00 - $27.00 per hour

Schedule: 10-hour shift, 12-hour shift, Monday to Friday, On-call, Overtime

Experience:

  • Fire alarm: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Low voltage: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Mechanical Knowledge: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Cabling: 2 year (Preferred)
  • Customer Service: 4 year (Preferred)
  • Structured Cabling: 1 year (Preferred)

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)

Job Description:

We are seeking experienced Low Voltage Technicians to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in installing and troubleshooting commercial low-voltage systems, including Security, Fire, Access Control, and CCTV. Technicians will work inside commercial environments and must have their own basic hand tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and troubleshoot commercial Security, Fire, Access Control, and CCTV systems.
  • Install cable pathway systems, including cable trays, racks, J-hooks, or D-rings.
  • Terminate, test, label, and document horizontal, backbone, and other cables.
  • Dress and route cables into telecoms closets, modular furniture, and other work area outlets.
  • Build out telecom and equipment rooms.
  • Firestop various types of cable penetrations.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and document test results for cabling.
  • Adhere to ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards and the National Electric Code.
  • Perform timely field reporting of assets used.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Skills and Technologies Requirements:

  • Installing/troubleshooting Commercial Security systems
  • Access Control & CCTV systems
  • Fire Alarm systems
  • Cable pathway systems
  • Various electronic components
  • Various cable types (twisted pair, coax, power limited tray cable, etc.)
  • Understanding of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards and the National Electric Code

  • Valid driver's license
  • Organizational skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to read Blue Prints
  • Ability to travel overnight
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Desire to become proficient and increase profitability
  • Comprehension of terminology about installation and service of telecommunication, data, security, and wireless systems
  • Comprehension of standard telecommunication, data, security, wireless systems practices, engineering, federal, state, and local safety standards
  • Ability to pass applicable state and federal background checks to become a registered security installer

Work Requirements:

  • Use of small hand tools
  • Use of power tools
  • Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds
  • Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & rooftops utilizing proper fall protection
  • Carrying of loads up & downstairs
  • Must work outdoors in all weather conditions

Additional Information:

  • Travel Percentage: 90%
  • Cell phone reimbursement
  • Must be willing to work overtime up to 20%
  • Candidates must be able to pass a background investigation and also pass a drug screening
