Work to develop and implement plans to identify, solicit and secure major gifts from individual alumni, parents and close friends to the Chandra Family Electrical and Computer Engineering Department (ECE) in the Cockrell School of Engineering. Work closely alongside the entire Cockrell School Development team on joint proposals when appropriate.
Solicits and secures commitment of $100,000 from individuals and work with the Senior Director and principal gifts team when necessary.
Proactively manages a portfolio of up to 80-100 major gift prospects and donors (with an emphasis on gifts of $100,000 ). This will require weekly travel mostly around Texas and occasionally outside of the state but within the United States.
Works closely with Senior Directors of Development and Chief Development Officer on strategic planning, goal setting for the Chandra Family ECE department alongside the Department Chair.
Develops reports, letters, proposals, and gift agreements based on conversations or points of agreement with donors.
Establishes relationships with faculty and administrative staff of the Cockrell School in order to facilitate relationships with and serve as a point of coordination with potential donors.
Identifies, cultivates, and solicits alumni and friends of the Cockrell School in support of the academic and programmatic priorities outlined by the school's leadership.
In collaboration with the prospects research team, continues to identify new major gift prospects. Identifies prospective donors by using own research tools and support from the development specialist to identify prospects, analyzing constituent databases, conducting prospect review, and making personal visits to prospects. Maintains a travel schedule of 40-50 percent time including some evenings and weekends.
In consultation with supervisor, sets and achieves performance goals through monthly and annual strategies.

Bachelor's Degree.
Experience of at least one to two years of direct fundraising experience.
Experience composing, editing, and proofreading business letters.
Experience assisting with fundraising programs or performing complex administrative functions.
Experience working with confidential information.
High degree of proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to interface effectively with a wide variety of personnel.
Experience working in a diverse environment, maintaining customer focus, and implementing continuous quality improvements.
Must be able to work well under pressure and adhere to deadlines; work independently without day-to-day supervision.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Must be able to exercise a high degree of initiative and judgment.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or other relatable major.
Thorough understanding of the development process and the integral role stewardship and development communications play in overall fundraising strategy.
Working knowledge of UT Austin's policies and procedures.
Experience with VIP database and DEFINE.
More than two years of experience with fundraising at UT Austin or in a sales role.
$60,000 depending on qualifications
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Repetitive use of keyboard at workstation.
Flexible schedule and/orhybrid teleworkmay be allowed.
Significant travel (40-50%) is required.
Work outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
