Senior Engineer - Substation P&C Design Description
Due to tremendous growth in business, our client, a leading engineering consultant and services firm with a good work/life balance, seeks a Senior Engineer with a background in Substation P&C (Protection and Controls) Design. Candidates should have:

• Perform P&C design with a high degree of accuracy (Quality
• Work well as a team member as well as individually
• Use MicroStation to create the assigned deliverables
• Interact with the Customer and meet their schedule and budgeting requirements
• Mentor junior Engineers/Designers
• Review work of other team members
• Perform work safely.

The candidate will work in an in-office, collaborative team environment and will interface and coordinate with other design disciplines (P&C, Civil/Structural, etc.).
This opportunity is for a hybrid work environment (home and office) and requires residing in the Knoxville, TN area or the Richmond, VA area

Senior Engineer - Substation P&C Design Qualifications

• A BSEE with 5-15 years of experience in the power utility industry
• Familiarity with all major control schemes associated with Power Substations P&C design as well as Line/Circuit protection schemes
  • Read Power System One-Line Diagrams
  • Familiarity with the full complement of Substation P&C design drawings including development of:
    • Relay diagrams, three-line diagrams
    • AC & DC elementaries
    • Front and rear panel views
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Communications diagrams
• Engineered P&C designs for constructability of Power Substations ranging in voltage levels from 34.5K to 500kV
• Skilled in all aspects of P&C Substation design and able to lead design projects from conceptual through completion of constructible design
• Mentoring and training of junior engineers and designers
• Experience with Bentley MicroStation or AutoCAD electrical is a plus
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English
• PE (Professional Engineer) license is a plus
