Azure/AWS Sr. Solution Architect

Job Summary

Core BTS is looking for an Azure/AWS Sr. Solution Architect to join our growing team.

You will work alongside your peers to design, build, and deliver a wide variety of Cloud based solutions from on-prem to Cloud (Azure or AWS) migrations, application development and modernization and data platform/data warehouse modernization and development by leveraging IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and DevOps services in Azure and AWS. 

Essential Duties

• Understand the complete portfolio of Core BTS Cloud Foundations, Modern Applications, and Data Analytics Data Platform business priorities and success measures to design implementation architectures and solutions using IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) or SaaS (Software as a Service), DevOps & Advanced Application coding to be deployed on MS Azure Cloud Platform
• Apply technical knowledge and customer requirements to create a deployment roadmap focusing on migrating from on-premises to native cloud environment.
• Architect secure solutions to meet business and technical requirements ensuring the technical viability of the program and successful deployments.
• Orchestrating essential resources and infusing key Infrastructure technologies (e.g., Windows/Azure, Security, Networking, etc.) and Application Development and DevOps technologies (e.g., App Service, containers, serverless, cloud-native, etc.) as appropriate
• Ensure all solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and appropriate reusability and reliability upon deployment.
• Develop deep relationships with key customer IT decision-makers, who drive long-term cloud adoption within their company to enable them to be cloud advocates.
• Be the Voice of the Customer; Share insights and best practices and connect with Delivery teams to remove critical blockers.
• Assess Azure platform readiness to support customers through a structured migration plan and ensure its delivery through Core BTS and its partners.
• Collaborate with other Solution Architects and consultants in developing complex end-to-end solutions based on the Microsoft Azure platform.
• Maintain technical skills and knowledge of cloud deployment insights; collaborate and share with the technical team.
• Be an Azure Platform Expert and have an overall understanding of REST API, AZURE Services, Azure Storage, Azure Security, etc.
• Define, own, and deliver the Technical Architecture and Solution Deliverables in accordance with customer requirements and any statement of work contracts.

Professional Skills

• Experience. 8 years of success in deployment projects, architecture, design, implementation, and support of highly distributed applications on hybrid or native cloud environments.
• 4-5 years of demonstrated hands-on experience in designing and configuring secure and scalable cloud platform patterns on Azure.
• 1-2 years of similar experience with AWS.
• Team Building. Proven track record of building deep technical architecture, and specifications with senior IT leaders in significant or highly strategic customer-facing programs. Experience in managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solutions/projects required.
• Problem-Solving. Ability to solve customer problems through cloud technologies.
• Collaboration and Communication. Acknowledged for driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts, and ensuring follow-through with exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to orchestrate, lead, and influence virtual teams, ensuring successful implementation of customer projects. Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences (Senior Executives, IT management, Database administrators, and Data Scientists) required.
• Understands the concepts of agile development and practices and their importance to the industry (preferred but not mandatory)
• Possesses excellent customer-facing skills and written/spoken English language skills.
• Creates high-quality, concise, clear documentation in support of Proposals and Projects.
• Demonstrates good presentation skills and can present proposals or solutions to customers at the director level and above. Comfortable presenting to large audiences, such as user groups.
• Invests in self-study related to the industry, software modules, and supporting technologies.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a part of a project team.

Technical Skills

• Enterprise-scale technical experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructures, architecture designs, migrations, and technology management (required)
• Experience and understanding of Software Defined Networking, Network Virtual Appliances, 3rd party firewall devices, and native Azure networking resources. (required)
• Experience and understanding of large-scale application portfolios in enterprise-wide environments (including migration of on-premises workloads to the cloud) (required)
• Deep domain expertise in cloud infrastructure solutions (i.e., Windows IaaS, Security, Management, Storage, Networking, containers and infrastructure as code (“IaC”) technologies)
• Deep domain expertise in cloud application development solutions (e.g., PaaS, Serverless, API Management); web application server technologies, cloud application design, software architecture, and practices; (design/development/deployment, Agile, SCRUM, ALM)
• Experience with scalable architectures using Azure App Service, API management, serverless technologies, container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, etc.), API management, microservice frameworks, etc.
• Competitive Landscape. Knowledge of cloud development platforms preferred.
• Experience with scripting technologies (Powershell, Bash, Python, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, JSON, BICEP, Terraform)

Education and Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred
• Microsoft Cloud Solution Architect
• Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• AWS Solutions Architect (Preferred)
• Certification in one of the following technologies preferred: Cloud, mobile, web application development, cloud-native application architecture (i.e., containers, microservices, API management), modern software development techniques like DevOps and CI/CD tools (i.e., Jenkins, Spinnaker, Azure developer services, GitHub) and container orchestration systems (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, Azure Kubernetes Service, GitHub).
