Cora Violet Auctions / Antiques on Grove is a young, millennial-owned business focusing on historical fashion, jewelry, fine and decorative arts, and arts of Asia. As a fully licensed auctioneer in Illinois with a co-owner who is a member of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA), we offer a boutique approach to our services. We are passionate about our clients and the unique items we sell, committed to providing personalized attention and expert knowledge.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist retail customers and process transactions using POS systems and cash registers.
• Catalogue, sell, and photograph items for online sales, including antique and vintage clothing.
• Manage consignment auctions and assist with their coordination.
• Respond to customer emails and inquiries promptly and professionally.
• Pack and ship items securely, ensuring they meet quality standards, especially when handling fragile items.
• Provide support to consignors, guiding them through the consignment process.
• Answer phones, direct customers accurately, and provide outstanding service.
• Open and close the store as required.
• Serve as a personal assistant to the owners, assisting in various administrative and operational tasks.

Required Qualifications:

• High organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills.
• Strong passion for antiques and vintage items, particularly antique and vintage clothing.
• Proficient in photography to capture high-quality images for online sales.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and ability to think quickly under pressure.
• Experience in a retail or customer service environment is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in an antique shop or auction house is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of antiques, vintage styles, and historical periods.
• Sewing skills for handling and maintaining vintage clothing.
• Technical proficiency with technology and computer software systems, or a strong ability to learn quickly.
