Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. is currently looking to hire a Sr. FSQA Scientist to manage Contract Manufacturers Partners in Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA). The incumbent will manage, maintain, and continuously improve FSQA programs across an assigned external network of contract manufacturer partners in North America. A Day in the Life... Ensure effective execution of Ocean Spray Food Safety and Quality Assurance (‘FSQA’) Standards across Ocean Spray Contract Manufacturing, Licensing and Strategic Alliance Partnerships (‘Partners’) in North America Manage new Partners’ FSQA approval process via audits/ assessments. Conduct regular audits and FSQ meetings at partner’s locations to ensure compliance with standards set forth in Ocean Spray’s FSQA Manual for Contract Manufacturing partners. Develop and assist with technical change processes at Partner locations. Define FSQA testing requirements and guidelines for partners to ensure specification compliance over time (e.g. Positive Release and HACCP programs). Provide FSQA support during commissioning of new products, packages, changes in formulas, etc. Be the voice for FSQA on cross-functional project teams and provide the appropriate guidance and support in the execution of projects. Support routine quality activities such as supplier complaints; lot and code tracing; monitor holds; review plant problems and issue new formulas. Coordinate risk analysis and corrective actions of food safety incidents with Partners Design, implement and manage programs, databases, and/or policies to track performance and manage risk. Provide insight and support in the development and implementation of appropriate plant KPIs for each partner facility. Enforce 3rd party and GFSI certification requirements in the Partner network. This position requires travel approximately 50% of the time. What We Are Looking For: BS in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, or related field. Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience in Food Safety, Quality Assurance. MS/Ph.D. a plus. Experience in CPG industry plant environment with an understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain quality. A good working knowledge in the areas of Quality Systems, Certifications and Auditing Protocols. Knowledge and understanding of FDA (FSMA) and USDA requirements. Knowledge of dietary supplement regulations a plus. Food safety experience within food, beverage or adjacent industry including but not limited to microbiology, foreign material, allergen control, traceability, and others. Knowledge of sanitation programs, regulatory compliance, specification adherence, and other operational food safety and quality programs a plus. Experience in incident investigation, as well as knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures. Excellent collaborative and problem-solving skills with strong written and verbal communication skills. Technical writing experience with procedures and audit reports, desired. Excellent project management, organization, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills. Education: Bachelor's or University Degree (Required) Work Experience: Years of Experience: Minimum of 5 Years Annual Salary: $69,800 - $95,900 The base salary range information above serves as a guideline of the position’s typical hiring range.
