CopperPoint Insurance is Hiring a Supervisor, Commercial Property and Casualty Claims Near Seattle, WA

Alaska National has an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor, Commercial Property and Casualty Claims. This position will manage and supervise the activities of a Property and Casualty claims adjuster team. The supervisor will investigate and process low to moderate severity claims in a timely, unbiased, and informed manner in compliance with company policies, state laws and regulatory performance standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction, assistance, and supervision to assigned claims adjusters and claims assistants.
  • Develop, initiate, and participate in claims adjuster training, team roundtables, team huddles and continuing education as required by law and department goals.
  • Analyze key indicators and data to identify opportunities to improve workflow and overall operations performance. Work with management in forecasting claims trends and achieving best practices outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate staffing levels to meet team needs and performance/target goals, including participation in the recruitment and hiring process and in the performance management process.
  • Communicate team goals and assist team members in achieving established annual goals, and maintain metrics relating to team and individual goals.
  • Conduct comprehensive claims investigations regarding the low to moderate exposure accidents involving bodily injury and/or property damage.
  • Establish, review, and maintain electronic claim files and assure progress toward resolution.
  • Supervise the handling of the low to moderate severity claims by other team members, including the review and authorization of reserves to assure adequacy and accuracy.
  • Manage a complex claim caseload, if necessary.
  • Proactively maintain and supervise an electronic diary system.
  • Provide prompt and professional responses to client-broker requests.
  • Identify, investigate, and refer potential subrogation claims when applicable.
  • Assess actual damages, negotiate loss settlements, and attend hearings and mediations as needed.
  • Proactively identify and communicate discovered risks to Loss Control and Underwriting.
  • Work with data management team to improve the existing electronic claim system and provide input toward the potential migration to a new claim system.
  • Select, manage, and direct outside claims counsel.
  • Generate, distribute, and maintain bi-annual Serious Loss Reports.
  • Organize, supervise, and participate in large insured account claims’ reviews and underwriting account renewal reviews.
  • Select, manage, and direct outside vendors.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but equivalent industry experience will be considered.
  • 10 years of experience in a commercial liability claims environment with strong technical claim knowledge.
  • Completion of and continued pursuit of insurance industry designations (CPCU, AIC, SCLA, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and general PC knowledge
  • Minimum of five years in the handling of litigated claims.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and remotely, as needed, in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage the demands of the position and to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to plan, forecast, and set objectives and determine best course of action.
  • Ability to manage organizational change; to maintain a systematic perspective; to involve and influence others to accept new ideas or innovative approaches; to lead in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to delegate and supervise critical claims tasks.
  • Ability to develop, implement and supervise innovative solutions to emerging claims challenges.

Salary Range:

  • $107,000.00 - $138,000.00 annually
  • Compensation may vary depending on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
  • In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.

  • Employees will accrue 0.0846 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour, which may total 22 days a year. In addition, employees will also receive 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
